Funny thing about our unique democracy. Try and destroy it and it will devour you.

It's always been that way throughout our history. Trump and his loony band of traitors are about to be devoured.

You can harm, damage, wreck our democracy, in the end it rises up and devours you.

The moment Trump was elected I knew he would cause great harm to our democracy. So did everyone here at DU. I also knew the moment Trump was elected he would have a bad ending.

And who is about to be extinct.

Most experts think our democracy is literally hanging by a thread and unless the DOJ suddenly sprouts fangs in the next month it will be too late.

at all? The evidence is piling up greatly against trump in sworn testimony.

Garland even said in a video that he's watching as much as he can but his prosecutors are watching all of it.

or months even you have no idea of how things work. The walls are closing in on trump, just as they did on Nixon. And this is way worst than Watergate.

But go on with your negativity.

It's about the huge, accumulating pile of evidence against trump that is being presented.

It's devastating against trump. He won't be perp march in the next few weeks but his continued grip on the repub party and his chances for office again are being destroyed before our eyes. And there are several more sessions to come.

Is our democracy so fragile someone like Trump could end it forever. I will never believe that. You can damage it, you can wreck it, but it will rise again. The American people would never stand for a dictatorship. No fucking way.

“The Arc of the Moral Universe is Long but it Bends Toward Justice.” Martin Luther King, Jr. – 1964 –

trump is going to get a comeuppance.

Former U.S Attorney General Eric Holder, 2016.

Also, MLK was repeating (paraphrasing) an 1852 Theodore Parker quote:

https://www.loc.gov/resource/rbaapc.22000/?st=pdf

I do not pretend to understand the moral universe, the arc is a long one, my eye reaches but little ways.

I cannot calculate the curve and complete the figure by the experience of sight; I can divine it by conscience.

But from what I see I am sure it bends towards justice.

Theodore Parker (August 24, 1810 – May 10, 1860) was an American transcendentalist and reforming minister of the Unitarian church. A reformer and abolitionist, his words and popular quotations would later inspire speeches by Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr.

The conservative majority on SCOTUS is not in our favor but I think the J6 committee's revelations are the end of the line politically for trump whether he knows it now or not.

And there are several more hours of hearings and revelations to come.

He'd been incredibly lucky his whole life, escaping serious jeopardy in many crooked deals. Somehow he skated through his shady, criminal activities without serious consequences. The "Teflon Don"... Now, as President, his temptation for monetizing the office would be too great. His ego, lack of judgment and impulse control removed obstacles that kept previous presidents more or less in check.

At the same time, he would now be studied closely. He was in the national and global spotlight. Hundreds of millions of people were watching his performance as President. Some were reporting on him, others were cheering and even more (like us) were booing. If he continued his corruption in office, he wouldn't escape accountability again. With Trump there is no moderation. He is a weak man.

Yep, the ending will be bad.
