(20,475 posts)what his actual connections to Russia are because his pal, (at the time) Barr, covered that up for King Con. He redacted Mueller's report so we'll never know.
Anybody thinking Barr is a great guy for smacking Trump upside the head over the insurection hasn't been paying attention to all the dirty shit he let TFG get away with.
I'll curse Barr's name until the day I die, right along with Trump's.

(20,475 posts)G.H.W. Bush's administration, Baby Bush's, and Trump's. He's as right-wing as you can get and I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him with one hand.
He's one of those sneaky, underhanded, religious zealots who believes his god works through him for the good of the world. I'd like to smash him in his big, fat, stupid face, but I'm non-violent.

(6,861 posts)And it is not only a double-down, but reads like a manifesto from a deposed leader who is hoping to incite violent supporters to violence.
It is full of slander and lies. It is full of talking points. It is full of debunked conspiracy theories.
But it is also full of red meat for a hungry, crazy base who wouldnt know the truth if it sat on their collective face and wiggled.
It is worrying. It must be parsed and debunked again, point by point, and NOT ignored.

(12,984 posts)I wonder if the Jan 6 committee will address it at all in their remaining live broadcasts. Though they couldn't address every detail, without cutting into all the other stuff they are intending to present in these finite time slots.

(7,416 posts)A giant work of fiction, propped up by baseless allegations, none of which have been shown to have any merits, in any of dozens of lawsuits, presided over by judges both left and right. This reads more like the manifesto of one of the nutjobs getting ready to attempt another unspeakable act.

(8,103 posts)He still doesn't get the idea that courts require actual proof. If he could have presented actual proof of his allegations, he would have. He engineered plenty of opportunities for himself. Also, he could have testified for the committee. He didn't even need a subpoena.
He's leading in the polls? Uh, okay...I can't even imagine why anyone in the country would prefer to live under fascism rather than the Democracy that we still have. Wanna see people executed for exercising their rights under the Constitution? Elect Donald again. Wanna even have a Constitution? Elect Biden. It is a simple choice.
This is the manifesto of a coward. And, cognitively speaking, I agree that he probably didn't write the thing. As devoid of evidence as it is, it is still beyond his ability to stay on track.
And, the Russian connection is real. From the Russian agent running around our country, to the female agent drumming up connections, to the NRA showing the Russians how our voting system works, to the cabal of GOP members rushing to visit Russia after Trump's election, to the back channel Trump tried to install, to the unmonitored Russian meetings in the WH...He acts like if he just says the opposite in self defense, that makes it so. It does not.
It is cowardly to issue this statement when he could have testified. What a weasel.
