Donald Trump did not want competent or honest people advising him on the election results.

He did not want people to tell him that the election was over and that he lost. He wanted people that agreed with his motives. What were his "motives"?

His motives were to continue to take money from his supporters. It was like the goose that laid the golden egg. He was not ready to give up that goose. That is why he put sycophants and incompetents in charge of his campaign after the election. Money.

He wanted people like Rudy and Navarro that were clever with their lies, so long as they protected him. It was something they could laugh about behind closed doors.

So he continued to feed the Big Lie to his cult and it didn't matter whether or not he believed them? It served his purpose, as it still does.

The presidency was nothing more than a big slush fund. Just reach in and pass out favors to all the people he needed.

Was he "detached from reality"? Does it matter?

Trump is a showman...he can "read the room"..months before the election he knew he was going to lose..downplaying the ravages of the pandemic, his callous disregard for human life, disappearing 300,000 covid dead...that plus Trump fatigue did him in...he knew this and he had a plan...dirty the lead up to the election..cast doubt on mail-in ballots, slow the mail, and cry "rigged", "Hunter Biden" early and often...sell it to his rally idiots and the pliable MSM that covered his every burp and fart as breaking news..but in the end Trump's fixed election did not hold..he could declare himself the winner, demand the vote count stop, but the outcome of the election was set...given Trump is a narcissistic sociopath, his ego would never allow the public humiliation of a loss and that's when Mark Meadows, a cunning two faced appeaser, let the crazies in...Meadows knew his boss...Trump's insatiable lust for for power without responsibility, his maniacal appetite for revenge, his need to run out the clock on the many tax investigations coming his way, and old fashioned greed...and so the multi pronged plot was hatched, Trump enablers, sycophants, acolytes, supplicants were recruited and the "sweep" became a thing..and true to Trump form, a money making grift..

Is literally a mob boss or person in charge of a criminal organization. His actual name even describes how he has operated his entire life (without serious consequence, I might add). Only extremely gullible people wouldn’t see this and continue to support and fund someone like this waste of skin.

Anybody demonstrating competency is potentially a threat to your continued rule, because they might recognize opportunity in your ineptitude and push you aside, or worse yet become popular for succeeding at the job you assign them. If you ensure that you, as a nascent dictator, surround yourself with only people who are more inept than you, then you ensure that you are the smartest, most successful, most popular member of the cabal
