Staffing shortages continue to disrupt industries across the country and one hit particularly hard is assisted living.
According to a survey by the American Health Care Association, 87% of nursing homes are facing moderate to high staffing shortages, 99% rely on staff working overtime or taking extra shifts to keep running and 70% are hiring temporary staff.
With burnout and fatigue, many people are choosing to leave the industry for other careers.

(21,060 posts)Work on their hands. Changing diapers, feeding seniors with Alzheimers and trying to get them to bathe. I see them struggling with them all the time. One lady I loved have not bathed for over a month. The smell was overwhelming. It took 3 women to get her into the shower room and she was screaming the whole time. Im in and out in one day and couldnt do it as a full time job. I admire their strength.
