I absolutely lost it yesterday in the hospital waiting room.

I'm usually very easy going , polite & tactful in my red town in dealing with repugs but not yesterday, I
went full on MAGAstan yelling.

After checking in I went into the waiting room and was surprised MSNBC was on with volume loud enough
you could hear w/o straining. A couple came in and sat to my right and then a single gentleman to my left,
we are all listening to the Select Committee hearing when this 400 lb guy comes in and sits right under the
TV looking right at the 4 of us and starts out with "Why don't Biden investigate all the fires the BLM rioters
started" from there it went to bad mouthing the Committee, it's members, Biden, Pelosi etc, etc, etc.

After about 5 minutes of this foul mouthed motormouth drowning out the TV, I sensed the couple was tired
of listening to him and the single gentleman was definitely tired of his rants like myself.

So I walked over to him and as loud as I could muster "You're really one dumb son of a bitch aren't you?
those fires were investigated and they were started by proud boys & oath keepers but your Fascist FQX
propaganda network will never tell you the truth." Had a couple other sentences rebutting other things
he said, and finished with "Now I'd like to listen to what my fellow reQublicans have to say about Jan 6th"

Turned around and there's a male hospital staffer with a clipboard and he's motioning me to come to him,
Oops, I'm in trouble I thought, when I got to him he says "Are you Mike?" "yes" "follow me please"
Walking down the hallway I asked how he knew it was me and he replied everybody else was too young.

Then we joked about the 400 lb guy. And yes I lied...I have no fellow repugs

When I told my brother about this today he said that would be a good question for repugs who refuse to
watch the Jan 6th hearings "What are you afraid of hearing from these reQublicans who were very
close to tRump?"

Just like years ago when you sit by someone you don’t know and start to have a conversation and they seem very nice and normal and sane, but suddenly in the past few years I realize that something is really wrong, because the person I’m talking to is suddenly saying things like we didn’t ever land on the moon and I know that the earth is flat and people were around at the same time as dinosaurs, and I can prove that there is no global warming because I invented a lawnmower and they wouldn’t accept my patent because the government told me it wouldn’t conform to global warming standards, proof that they invented that hoax.

There is even a school and museum in Indiana that teaches this stuff to kids. Now granted, it sits out in the country and does remind one of a Children of the Corn movie, but still in all, it is real and they are serious.

There were no jokes about the weight that you can discern from the OP. They joked about the guy, not necessarily his weight.

How about asking the OP if he was joking about the weight instead of assuming they were discussing his weight.

If the guy looks like he weighs 400 pounds, he probably does. And yes, 400 pounds is morbidly obese and should get strong medical attention.

this nonsense. My profession put me in medical settings all the time. I’ve seen professionals in professional settings behave as they should. On the rare occasion that I heard someone make an distasteful “joke” about a patient or a client, they were usually shut down. At the very least, their juvenile comment was met with silence.

I guess I’m happy to take your “insult” that I’ve always known professionals who behave as such. I sure hope the ones you know aren’t Democrats because that would be disheartening.

And lol, comparing medical professionals to athletes? Kids talking about parents? Please.

Yes, docs and nurses are professionals, and as such almost always speak professionally to people outside of the profession.

However, doctor morbid humour is legendary. I am not a doctor or nurse so I don't know from personal experience about conversation inside the profession. Like you, my interactions across the "interface" with health care professionals have been professionally handled.

The OP incident had the OP (random patient) and nurse joking about the foxed (deluded) patient, but undoubtedly NOT about the patient's medical complaint or history or medical condition. I get the sense that there was a ton of material to joke about based on what the patient said in public.

The hospital staffer was out of line, and that has been reported. I take this crap seriously. I don’t have to care for a person’s political views to still believe they’re entitled to respect and professionalism in that setting. Thanks for giving the facility name and other details.

A person acting like that in front of me in a healthcare setting, saying they would beat you up,, most people would go to security.

Did you actually say you “fly like a butterfly and sting like a bee”.? Seriously? Omg.

We make thousands of jokes about the "273 pound" former guy, and few refer to his weight.

A joke about about a black woman is not necessarily, not obviously, not required to be a joke about blackness.

A joke about "Mayor Giuliani" does not have to refer to his mayorality in any way.

If you think staffers never or rarely joke about patients, then you need to get more in touch.

So your next attack will be against people who dare mention Harley Davidson?

400 pounds is less common and more noteworthy than a Harley Davidson tshirt.

Further, just because "unkempt beard" is a common expression does not mean that the beard can't be "unkept". Here, I'll help you:

un·kept
/ˌənˈkept/
adjective: unkept

1. (of a commitment or undertaking) not honored or fulfilled.
"unkept appointments and broken promises"

2. not tidy or cared for.
"lawns unkept and ponds neglected"

had food in his unkempt beard and tried to convince everyone in that part of the hospital that
Agolf Twitler had nothing to do with the insurrection "was nuts" was said to me & me alone.

Point out the "joke". Not that somebody was joking about a guy who was identified as being very large. Point out the joke, if you can, about his weight, not about the guy, but about his weight. A joke make fun of his his weight, not a joke about the guy who was merely identified as being enormous, but a joke about his enormity.

Our democracy is in peril and we can no longer sit by and play nicey nice with those who want our country to fail.

I am not usually one to speak up either, but boy howdy, do I speak up now. I'm a small, 73-year old woman and have always been somewhat reserved around people I don't know, but that woman is long gone these days. I don't care who you are - family, stranger, supposed friend - I have no more f***s to give and I intend to defend our democracy. I will not let these mouth breathers steal it from us.

to consider voting Democrat.

People like him NEED to be confronted with LOTS of rebuttals. It might be the only time they ever get the truth. Cuz they sure won’t get truth if they’re glued to outlets like Pox Noise.

That wasn’t any old confrontation you presented. It was a public service!

By the time I left the service I knew how to stand up to bullies and thankfully that exercise
has been few and far between, last one was over 10 years ago.

If they turned their anger on the messenger (me) I always invited them to swing first so my adrenaline
would kick in and I always told them "I don't care if you wake up in the hospital", I had started to say
that Monday when it hit me we were already in a hospital. And out of nowhere Ali's famous saying
popped into my head so I used it. So it was a riposte I guess.

You're the first person to mention the last line, and that was the one line I was really proud of.
I thought by mentioning it, other people could use it or build from it to fit their particular situation.
Some repugs are so brainwashed that everything but FQX is fake news that they actually hate the
thought of watching anything else. But the majority of them do know deep down inside Jan 6th
rests on Agolf Twitler's shoulders. Are they possibly afraid to be the first one in their local tRump
cult to call him out as evil and face ridicule from MAGAstanians ?

We do need to remind Rs that's it's all big name Rs testifying before the Committee, not AntiFa.

The RWNJ patient walked in unmasked, despite numerous signs on doors saying “Masks are still required here.”

I see that when I go for tests or follow-up visits. Although I’m fully jabbed (including two boosters), I mask up in public because I’m at high risk for breakthroughs. That, and it’s the right thing to do.

Complained the first time I saw an unmasked guy sitting around in the waiting room. The staff has been a little better at enforcement — in addition to all the other crap they endure. Just wish they’d use this phrase:
“Mask it, or casket!”

He wasn't wearing a mask, nor do I remember him even carrying one. Wonder if someone asked him
to mask-up and he yelled my freedom because he sure walked in like he was mad about something,
was it the request to mask-up (sure he was asked) or was it the Jan 6th hearing on the TV?

I was the only one wearing an N95. Local Dillons store gives N95 masks away for free.
