Storms last night hit a bunch of AEP lines and today's high temperatures put such a demand on the system so in order to avoid more damage that had to shut down
much of the system in Ohio.
I put ice in the fridge and freezer and heated some stuff up on the grill this evening. If it looks to be too long I will be cooking breakfast for my neighbors in the AM.

(2,234 posts)Our power went off at 3:51pm yesterday (north of Morse). Came back on at 5:23am. We packed up the feeezer and took it to a friend who had empty freezer space and a generator.
Cant help but wonder if there will be more of this today..

This summer is going to be a true test of the power grid, storms or no.

Not much to be done about it in the short term. Don't open the fridge or freezer if you can help it.

(6,448 posts)I live in the Tempe/Scottsdale area in Arizona. I have several quart size water bottles that I keep 3/4 of the way full so that I have I ice. I put them around the gallon of milk and other things in the 'fridge. Smaller bottles with ice go with the the yogurta and like items.
