inflation will stop or reverse? Is this the media insinuation? If that is the case, then Congress needs to investigate business corruption and impose windfall profits taxes immediately.

Plenty of allegations that prices are being artificially raised to damage the Democrats in November.

I think corporations (especially oil companies) saw an opportunity to make enormous profits and blame it on someone else, so they are going for it.

Record profits...yet we pay more and more every day.

Of course, they have no solutions to offer. Only criticism of Joe Biden and the Democrats. And they loathe Joe Biden. What more do they need to know?

of the Ronald Reagan, trump being "real" men. Strong, tough, "real" Americans. This has been perpetrated by the likes of fox news really all media. These guys whether they do or not will never admit to voting for a Democrat because they will be seen as weak or worse liberal by their friends or co-workers workers. They know if they were ever found with an Obama or Biden sticker on their car or preferably their pick-up they would be ridiculed. I hope there's a lot more who play the game and in the end they vote Democratic. As far as women go I have no idea why they decide to vote Republican. I'm not a woman so maybe a woman could fill me in.

The GOP creates financial insecurity and then blames it on the Dems.

The GOP likes to make people suffer in order to get power.

To facts. Explain why inflation and gas prices are high and that they will do the few things legislators can do to affect them. Describe how Republicans block these efforts and that they have NO plan to change.

A vote for Dems is a vote for Democracy AND for working to bring prices under control.

Voting Republican will not change that, so they wouldn't get anything by discarding their democracy for a few promised coins of silver.

Anyone who has trouble making ends meet now will be worse off under Republican rule because the GQP always serves the interests of the rich while feeding the MAGA masses a junk food diet of culture war grievances.

The MAGA crowd doesn't care about global conditions or problems or how it affects the American economy. Most don't understand or even believe it. We're the 'exceptional' country capable of rising above it all. Or at least we were before globalization materialized linking us to the rest of the world, a world filled with the blacks and browns and hoity-toity Europeans, all the foreigners reducing America (USA,USA) to their level.

It's America First in all things, all perceptions. If only we could travel back to that Golden Era (circa 1950) everything would be peachy-keen bc men were men, women knew their place and minorities were ripe for exploitation, firmly under the heel of the white Christian ruling class.

It's all about the distorted perception the GOP and their billionaire donors have skillfully whipped up. However, it's really about power and money and influence. The average MAGA voter is simply a willing, often ignorant, grievance-laden stepping stone to reach the ultimate level of autocratic control.

Yes, the MAGAs will be worse off under Republican/Trumpist rule. But they'll smile, feel a warm glow within bc they've won, they've owned the libs and can strut around as rugged, gun-toting individualists in a dog eat dog, only the strong survive world, the way God intended.

The deluded world we're living in!

...Receipts of which would be used exclusively to buy down the price of gas and diesel fuel by $1.00/ gallon.

Petro Companies could avoid the tax by voluntarily offering gas/diesel through their outlets for a price established by federal regulators based on the historical spread between market prices and pump prices (i.e., agree to discontinue price gouging).

Bring this measure to a vote in July. Summon in the Petro Executives to testify before congress on their excessive (windfall) profits.

The House will easily pass it, then on to the Senate... where all h*!! will break loose.

We should reject this sort of framing every time it's uttered.

President Biden and the Democrats didn't cause the inflation, and the Republicans have no proposals that would help. (As far as I can tell, they haven't proposed anything at all other than maybe the Keystone sludge pipeline.)

If the Republicans were in charge, we would be fundamentally less able to deal with inflation. Tax cuts for the wealthy create inflationary pressures, as does protection of corporate monopolies.

Inflation was terrible. The voters had a choice. What was more important, the economy or democracy?

The rest is history….
