Convicted Cowboys for Trump founder threatening to throw out 7,123 primary votes in New Mexico: report
Bob Brigham June 14, 2022
Otero County is once again facing an election scandal as the Republican-controlled county commission is threatening to throw out over 7,000 votes by refusing to certify the results of the June 7 primary.
"Democratic Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver on Tuesday asked the state Supreme Court to order the three-member Otero County commission to certify June 7 primary election results to ensure voters are not disenfranchised and that political candidates have access to the general election ballot in November," the Associated Press reported Tuesday. "On Monday, the commission in its role as a county canvassing board voted unanimously against certifying the results of the primary without raising specific concerns about discrepancies, over the objection of the county clerk."
The county counted 7,123 votes in the state's gubernatorial primaries.
"Members of the Otero County commission include Cowboys for Trump co-founder Couy Griffin, who ascribes to unsubstantiated claims that Trump won the 2020 election. Griffin was convicted of illegally entering restricted U.S. Capitol grounds though not the building amid the riots on Jan. 6, 2021, and is scheduled for sentencing later this month. He acknowledged that the standoff over this primary could delay the outcome of local election races," the AP reported..............................

Couy Griffin, a New Mexico county commissioner and the founder of Cowboys for Trump, was convicted Tuesday for breaching the grounds of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, joining a mob of thousands that forced then-Vice President Mike Pence and members of Congress to flee for safety.
The verdict, delivered by U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden after a two-day bench trial, capped a 14-month legal odyssey that forced the Justice Department to reveal the long-secret location that Pence fled to during the riot and raised questions about the level of culpability that belonged to each person who entered Capitol grounds that day even if they committed no acts of violence or destruction.
He crossed over three different walls, McFadden said, noting that they were tall enough to require assistance to surmount. All of this would suggest to a normal person that perhaps you should not be entering the area.
McFadden added that Griffin smelled OC spray, which had been used by police to deter the oncoming mob. .................................................

(4,112 posts)I believe Clements has now raised over $300,000 on a Christian go-find-me site.
At March County Commission meeting Clements accused me of making death threats against his family, setting me up as a target.
And the other two commissioners buy their bullshit.
We do have a candidate. More to come.

(19,193 posts)before, Denise, and I was hoping you'd weigh in on this. You're up to your eyebrows with right-wing yahoos down there, and they're a particularly nasty variety of Trumpaholics.
Sooner or later these "christians" are going to wake up and realize they've been laying down with the devil. Or maybe they won't. I don't know how they can rationalize their words and actions and still call themselves christians.
Don't let those New Mexico bastards get you down my friend. I hope you're healthy and well. Take care.

The action by the Otero County Commission is one of the first examples of a county blocking the certification of results in the 2022 election cycle, and Oliver, a Democrat, warned of the potential for similar moves in other New Mexico communities.
In a statement, Oliver said the Otero County Commissioners were "appeasing unfounded conspiracy theories and potentially nullifying the votes of every Otero County voter who participated in the primary" with their action.....
In her filing with the state Supreme Court, Oliver warned that other New Mexico counties also may balk at certifying their primary results in the days ahead, citing a "statewide attempt to influence other county canvassing boards."
"We assume other counties will be noncompliant with this provision which jeopardizes the general election ballot for all candidates," the filing said.
There will be a ton of these lawsuits if too many TFG supporters who back the Big Lie are elected to office
