A dog shelter in Ohio lost power amid blazing heat. The community showed up to keep the pups cool.

USA Today via Yahoo News

A dog shelter's call for help on social media after a power outage led dozens of people from the community to show up with ice in hand.

The Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center in Columbus, Ohio lost power on Tuesday and created a Facebook post asking for the community to bring ice.

"We need your help. The power is out here at the shelter, and our pups needs ice to keep cool in this blazing heat!," the post said.

Soon after, dozens of people from the community brought them hundreds of bags of ice.

"We now have a peace of mind that our shelter pups will be cool tonight, with the supervision of our overnight staff. Thank you all!" the shelter said in an updated post.

And there are a lot of irate people here in Columbus today because of AEP shutting off power to most of the city (but not the wealthy suburbs) during a heat wave. Hubster and I were without power, internet, and cell phone service for fifteen hours yesterday and could not find out why. I have friends who are currently using AEP headquarters as a “cooling station” and expecting to be arrested.

This, however, is the best story to come out of a ridiculous situation.

If you can't call for help when having a heat stroke, it could be fatal. Not to mention other emergencies that don't take a break in heat waves.
