grrrr. Frankie (pope photo op) says not to criticize putler's horrendous invasion

of Ukraine because we don't know the provocations, backstory, etc. (paraphrasing from a clip shown on Democracy Now this morning).

There are words, but most would get me in trouble.

Rome(CNN) Pope Francis has said that the war in Ukraine "was perhaps in some way either provoked or not prevented" in remarks published by Italian newspaper La Stampa on Tuesday.

The Pope gave a lengthy interview to a Jesuit publication, and the usual suspects in the media went for clickbait with a seven word, decontextualized soundbite.

responsibility for putler's obscene, horrific, invasion. Reminds me of the rcc's actions, or lack thereof, in WWII.

when that disrespect is based on talking points gleaned from a "news clip" on a marginal, anti-Democratic Party website.

to disrespect ANY of the patriarchal, abrahamic religions, or their heads, as they already disrespect me.

Those nicknames have been used on DU by number of people over the last several years.

Is it okay for the earthly representative of the "prince of peace" to suggest that invading another country and intending to destroy it is okay?

As for the contention that

"Those nicknames have been used on DU by number of people over the last several years."

can you cite any instance of disrespectful nicknames for prominent Jewish or Muslim leaders being used on DU?

I've had enough from of this from Noam Chomsky, Chris Hedges, and Katrina vanden Heuvel.

I read a editorial co-written by Amy Goodman at the beginning of this brutal invasion that I found disturbing (in the same vein as the Pope, but more pointed)

Thanks for the welcome.
