"SNIP.......
Shortly after he lost the 2020 presidential election, President Donald Trump embarked on a new, wildly lucrative political effort. The Save America political action committee (PAC) was formed two days after the race was called for Joe Biden and has since become a gathering spot for tens of millions of dollars from Trump supporters.
This isnt a normal campaign PAC, allowing Trump to pay for certain expenses or contribute to other politicians. Its a leadership PAC, letting him spend money however he wishes. Like, say, hosting a big rally outside the White House in an effort to retain power. Or paying his future daughter-in-law $60,000 to give a short speech at that rally.
The profligate fundraising in which Trump has engaged since the election was a focus of the hearing held Monday by the House select committee investigating the riot at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 the day of the aforementioned rally and speech.
During the hearing, Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) pointed to political fundraising as an important vehicle for political speech, one that Trump had exploited.
Small-dollar donors use scarce disposable income to support candidates and causes of their choosing to make their voices heard, and those donors deserve the truth about what those funds will be used for, Lofgren said. Throughout the committees investigation, we found evidence that the Trump campaign and its surrogates misled donors as to where their funds would go and what they would be used for. So not only was there the big lie, there was the big rip-off.

(16,783 posts)I hear that they are pretty well off.
Talked with a resident from there last year when waiting for my daughter and granddaughters at a Twins game. The guy said he was visiting family in the Twin Cities and was at Target Field for a day game. He looked in his mid 50's. Not elderly by any means.

(117 posts)When you go around the neighborhoods at night, you see that 2/3 of them are planted in front of Fux Noise on the tube. Im willing to bet they all couldnt wait to POUR their social security $ into this and basically any scam 🍊💩 puts out there. And they deserve to lose every cent IMHO.

(35,324 posts)President Trump asked us for our money and ripped us off but we "Liked it". Back in my day we worked 12 hours a day for $1 and "We liked it"
He didn't take his $400,000 salwry, so what is wrong with stealing $250,000,000.

I was going to buy some for my daughter as a joke (we find the commercials funny) but its only on line and its $100/month. Looking into it I found there's no sign in or god forbid an app AND initially you had to sign up for a year. The only way to cancel it (this was at the start) was calling a number and their customer service line trying to wait you out so youll hang up. I read about this in articles.

(19,972 posts)I'd bet virtually all of them voted for Reagan and adopted his neoliberalism/greed über alles/hatred of "big gubment" way of life. TFG was the clear choice for anyone opposed to competent government and the rule of law. Some might argue that much of today's far-right/anti-democratic/fascist activity even among younger people also has roots in Reagan and the greed spread by Jack Welch as explored in this new book:
The Man Who Broke Capitalism

(19,972 posts)I never understood how any real Democratic voter who may have supported Carter could ever vote for somebody as anti-union/anti-labor as Reagan. I suppose it's a matter of "consumers" voting for the only political alternative they have to their unhappiness of the moment as you say. But the old people should know better.
