Loudermilk does the dance

Last edited Wed Jun 15, 2022, 09:22 PM - Edit history (1)

Story 1: "I didn't give any tours on Jan 5."

Story 2: "The tour I gave on Jan 5 wasn't reconnaissance."

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/06/15/loudermilk-tour-video/

As much as anything, though, this new evidence continues to undermine Loudermilk’s explanations.

Loudermilk avoided talking about the tour for many months, even as the committee expressed an interest in the matter. Aides went so far as to suggest that not only were there no “reconnaissance” tours, but that there were no tours, period.

By May, though, the committee said it had information on a tour that it wanted Loudermilk to address.

In a statement at the time, Loudermilk suggested this was just an extremely innocent tour given to a family. He cited “a constituent family with young children meeting with their Member of Congress.” He said “the family did not enter the Capitol grounds on the 6th” and that nobody had been charged or was under investigation for such actions.

Soon, though, Loudermilk expanded the pool of people involved: The next day, he released a video acknowledging that the family also had “guests.” Now we learn the group was in the double-digits — something the Capitol Police have confirmed (it put the number as high as 15 people at one point in the tour).

The Republican's defense suffers new holes with each passing day.

Rep. Loudermilk says he was just showing them around. Where does everybody get this "tour" stuff?! He wasn't wearing a billed cap, telling amusing anecdotes about things, and accepting tips. That's what a tour guide does. He was just showing them around, and coincidentally showed them the security checkpoints and the access stairs, and the offices of other members that they might be interested in. See? That's not a "tour" at all!

Did you notice on the guy taking pictures of the stairs... he's carrying at least four phones. Loudermilk claims there is a "beautiful eagle sconce" in the stairwell.

He is holding a soda (looks like a Monster energy drink -- prepping for Jan. 6th, I guess...) and a phone -- look at the video carefully frame by frame. We need to be careful with our facts because:

1) Truth matters, and

2) Trump's supporters will focus on small inconsequential errors like this to discredit the damning evidence against Trump and those who worked with him to overturn the 2020 election.

He's only holding one phone but he's got something shoved in his belt and then again in the side of his pants...granted, it is difficult to tell, I actually thought it was a gun at first.

He has something rectangular in his front left pocket, but it is not clear what it is.

What is certain is that the dude is a slob and has a really bad nazi haircut.

He referred to some people on the tour as friends of others, not constituents. We need to know more about this tour that Loudermilk initially denied even took place.
