We learned beyond any doubt, Loudermilk is a liar. Which means he is guilty. The committee must have the phone of the guy who was taking pictures of the stairs. They showed the pictures he took. Unless he posted everything on Facebook. They could have gotten the pictures that way I suppose.
Bannon will be going on trial soon. Which means he will be in prison soon. That is a slam dunk case.
We learned Ginni Thomas was an internet pen pal with Eastman. That is not going to end well.
The 3 Trump nut election election officials in New Mexico, were shot down by the State Supreme Court. They are now facing possible criminal charges. As I watched that video of them refusing to certify, I realized they had no idea what they were doing. They were living in a made up world. They believed , without evidence, the voting machines were rigged. They believed they were saving America. I am starting to notice a pattern here, when it comes to certain Trump nuts. They don't watch the news or they believe the news is propaganda.
How many Trump voters died from covid because they believed the news is fake. As some of them were taking their last breathes they denied the real news.
How many Trump voters who stormed the capital are now sitting in jail and they don't understand why. They believed they were saving America.
This may have been Trumps greatest success. He convinced millions of Trump voters the news is fake. When people believe the news is fake, there is only one place remaining for them to get information, from propaganda. They have been brainwashed. With the rise of the internet and Fox News, people like the Trump voters had a place to go for information. When they decided the news was fake, they had access to the largest propaganda system ever created in history. The results have been tragic.
I believe we are witnessing an historic tragedy unfold before our eyes. There are countless Trump nuts across America who will unknowingly and knowingly commit crimes in the future because they don't watch the news. They will believe they are saving America when they commit crimes.
Reading some of Ginni Thomas e-mails, tells me she does not watch or believe in the news. She believed she was saving America.

(4,913 posts)Decades of people being subjected to relentless propaganda. This is historic in it's scale. Millions have been brainwashed to the point of self destruction.

(22,920 posts)Actually, that's where I found myself about three years ago after trying my entire life, with a variety of approaches, to reach those I can now simply identify as Trumpers, even though they held these beliefs and a similar shitty, dangerous worldview their entire lives, long before Trump.
Given the plethora of information available nowadays, which we know is both good and bad, yet they insisted on only listening to their right-wing, QAnon absolute bullshit spewing outright dangerous messaging, I lay the blame at their feet. They are personally responsible for their choices as adults.
So, I chose to shun them. Family too. They are a direct danger in a variety of ways to my grandson, so they are not part of our lives at all. When I know someone is a Trumper, I avoid them, including businesses, neighbors, etc.
The propaganda wouldn't have so totally consumed them had they not held those views to begin with to some degree, so it was like a magnet for them.

(9,760 posts)that one must really, really want to believe them to not dismiss them as the BS they so obviously are.
Something else these types of people seem to be drawn to is outrageous melodrama. They desperately want things like devil-worshipping pedophiles to be real life. Unless, of course, reasonable evidence strongly suggests someone on their favorite team is guilty of the wrongdoing.

(21,287 posts)because of the 1st Amendment. I hate it when people call the domestic terrorists, militias. Militias were arms of the federal government, one of the militias put down the Whiskey rebellion in my state of Pa. Militias weren't checks on the federal government, they were enforcement arms of the federal government.
Then again 99% of people don't know the difference between a fence and a wall.

(10,494 posts)You cannot shout fire in a crowded theater if there is no fire. The media should not be allowed to knowingly lie to their viewers to manipulate them into violence or to change election outcomes. The Government must have a compelling interest and a narrowly tailored statute to address the problem.

(6,582 posts)We need to be relentless at countering right-wing propaganda & lies with our own truthful messaging.
If we don't, the propaganda will win.

(21,287 posts)The 2 major shareholders of MSNBC (COMCAST) are BlackRock and Vanguard. Right off the bat you have 4 hours of right wing narratives with Morning Scum. I cannot remember the last time I watched Morning Scum just as I can't remember the last time I ate at McDonalds, both are bad for one's health.
gab13by13
(21,287 posts)If the MSM was fair and balanced Donald trump would be indicted by now. There are a handful of cable news anchors who don't push the right wing narratives, I only watch Nicolle, Chris, and Rachel.
I get news from Zerlina Maxwell, Stephanie Miller (who is sick this week) and Thom Hartmann and other truth tellers who are not on cable news.
How can you get Magats to join DU to get the truth? They would be excommunicated in a week.

(6,684 posts)I've subscribed for years. I feel more informed about the confusing and often contradictory behavior of political leaders whose priorities don't always make sense. The real power lies with money and the gatekeepers that distribute it. Democracy won't make it unless regular people have honest information. Money is winning and I don't know how to stop that.

(21,287 posts)have been instructed to not use the term "Big Lie" any more, we can't have that simple term repeated over and over again why people may start believing it. They are instructed to use other terms not as catchy.

They are so pathetically obvious. At least they are obvious.
To enforce the law by ordering them to do their jobs will go a long way in containing and removing the magats that are getting into dangerous positions now.

(6,254 posts)beliefs and its all fake news. They have no clue what is really going on outside their Fox dystopian world. They dont get real news they are constantly bombarded with absurd propaganda and conspiracy theories. The only thing I could see changing many of their minds is a radical change in tone by Fox which will never happen. We must vote in such numbers that prevent them from taking power ever again.

(7,430 posts)The core of the Trump propaganda wave will dissipate when Trump and his inner circle are prosecuted, and some of them are jailed. They will then lose contact with their audience. Trump needs to go to jail. That would be the greatest impediment to a rise in (the social aspects of) fascism. When the DOJ is done with him (to say nothing of NY and GA), he should be indicted on a half dozen or more felony counts. Moreover, he'll be sued in civil court for tens, possibly hundreds of millions. One of the best signs of his demise is a report coming from the Kremlin indicating that the Russians are very worried about their investments in Trump as the J6 Committee tears him a new one. The guy who was supposed to spearhead the anti-democracy movement world-wide is being stripped of his status as a leader.
Yes, Trump has shown himself to be a skilled propagandist and charlatan. He's been shown to be a masterful liar and bully. And he's being exposed for the thief and destructive force that he is. His days are numbered.

(684 posts)It's like half of America needs to go through cult deprogramming therapy. I think the Jan. 6 committee is hoping to do that by showing people what happened. I fear it won't be enough. People have been thoroughly duped. I never knew that I was so patriotic until Trump. I remember being mad at the government for Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan etc. so I can feel their pain, but they are playing with fire and they need some serious help.
