Should the longtime corporate lawyer's nomination clear the U.S. Senate, Blackwell will further bolster a long legal resume that includes successfully winning the first pardon for a posthumous applicant in state history. 1. I don't think they'll object; while Blackwell is known nationally

for the Chauvin trial, most of his legal career has involved commercial litigation, mostly in the defense of corporations in various kinds of lawsuits. The GOPers aren't likely to have ideological problems with Blackwell, except that he's black and he once prosecuted a bad white cop who killed a black man.
