6. The line on Katrina was that Democrats "blamed Bush for the weather"

I'm guessing those who called Sandy "Obama's Katrina" were gleefully anticipating that Sandy would play out like Katrina, since they've convinced themselves that Bush couldn't have done anything to make the situation any better--he was just an unfortunate victim of a disaster.

Now, those same people are accusing Obama of rushing in too soon to help.

8. Exactly my point. Given the moment and the crisis, Obama showed what a leader is.

I was born in New Orleans. It will always break my heart to remember the places I grew up around up to their windows in water. This week is a test. I think it means we, as a people, are learning to be better humans. It helps if we have a humane person in charge of the government. But I'll let you know if we passed that test a week from now.

10. Not even close. Romney is utterly irrelevent when it comes to handling real problems.

Romney's Katrina, if he ever had one, was in his choice to lie to the public about his economic plans just so he could wriggle up in the polls for a couple of weeks before it all fell apart on him.

By "his Katrina" I mean a moment when a leader's character is tested. When Romney's turn came, it turns out he lacked for any character to test.

The GOP doesn't know how to handle a competent commander in chief.

After witnessing what happened during Katrina I was thankful that Clinton was president when the Northridge quake hit CA. I'm sure the east coast appreciates that Obama is in charge now vs any republican as their whole platform revolves around gutting and privatizing programs like FEMA.

There's a right way and a wrong way to oversee a natural disaster. We've now seen examples of both.
