When was the last time that any VP thought the POTUS was going to murder him?


I'm shocked that people from the former administration haven't fled the country en masse yet. They have to think at least in the back of their minds that handcuffs are in their future for this elaborate, encompassing crime spree.

Pence knew that if he was out of the way that the coup would proceed. Also, as stated in the hearing, Pence did not want the world to see him fleeing the Capitol.

If he stayed in the building until order was restored, he could proceed with the election certification. Not mentioned but probably a strong motive, too, would be Pence's future political ambitions. How could he run for president himself after Trump set himself up as dictator?

When Pence said he didn't want the world to see the Vice President fleeing the Capitol, it seemed convincing, and convenient. How noble.

Or maybe he chose that explanation because it sounded noble, but he knew that if he got in that car, he might be held hostage for a period of time until Grassley could do the dirty work. Or, as we have learned now, the Proud Boys stated that would kill Pence if they had the chance.

Grassley needs to be questioned too.

Have you guys ever thought he just wanted Pence off the premises so he couldn't do his job that day? I do. I think it's pretty silly to assume the worst, that he was going to be murdered.

I really doubt he'd have staged a murder in this way in broad daylight with cameras on Pence and whoever was supposed to whisk him away. He said he wanted the mob to murder him, sure. So he wouldn't have whisked him away in a secure limousine if he planned to have the mob murder him; he would have made sure Pence stayed in the building and someone would have left a door open or something so the mob could get to him. Think about it - that is more his style: get others to do his dirty work for him. Make it look like the mob did it on their own. The fact that nothing like that happened makes me think the orange motherfucker is a wimpy big tough talker. When it comes down to it, he doesn't have the guts. You know this. He just likes to sound tough but he's a fucking pussy.

We don’t know what Trump was planning and we don’t know what Pence was afraid of.
“I’m not getting in that car” sounds pretty ominous, but who knows, maybe he really was worried about the optics.
We do know nothing is beyond Trump.

or to his militia friends where the car was and let them attack it. Then Trump could blame the mob and say that Pence died a coward, fleeing his duty.

Or, if murder was not in the plan, he could have just made an issue of cowardice over fleeing and then claimed that, since Pence fled the scene, Grassley had to take over.

One way or the other, the plan was to get Pence away so Grassley could follow through.

And Pence knew that.

He was looking out for his image as well as for the rule of law. If Trump became dictator, Pence could never run for president himself in the future.

18. Pence is no saint. He knew what was being planned and that Grassley would take over if he left.

I doubt he truly feared for his life, but he knew that the fix was in for Grassley to accept the fake slates of electors and declare Trump had won the EC. He at least did his job that day, and I applaud him for calling in the National Guard when Trump would not do it. Given the plan to occupy the Capitol for days until they got their way, Pence helped avert a government crisis.

IMHO, Grassley REALLY needs to be examined. It looks like the plan was for Pence to be swooped away (for I don't know how long) while Grassley would do trump's bidding when trump saw that Pence wouldn't.

Thank God Pence know not to get in that limo....
