Jan. 6 committee asks Ginni Thomas, wife of Justice Clarence Thomas, to testifyCommittee Chair Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., told reporters after the committee's Thursday hearing that it had made the request of Ginni Thomas, but did not say when the letter had been sent.
Eastman was central to a pressure campaign against then-Vice President Pence to reject the election results when Congress convened on Jan. 6 to count the Electoral College vote, Thompson and Vice Chair Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., say. Thompson told this to reporters on Capitol Hill and Cheney's view was confirmed to NPR's Deirdre Walsh by an aide.
Ginni Thomas told the right-wing news site The Daily Caller in a story published after the start of Thursday's hearing that she would "look forward" to speaking with the committee.

The Committee wants the public to know that she's been asked politely to join them for a chat.
That way, they avoid the appearance of abruptly serving her with a subpoena without any prior announcement to the public.
As with everything they've done, it wouldn't be hard to imagine that this is how professionals operate.

(5,869 posts)I can't help but think that she leaked Alito's abortion opinion. It just stinks of her. She wanted to let her people know where everyone stood as of the draft for 2 reasons. 1--to keep the pressure on everyone to hold their ground. 2--to have a pre-victory victory lap.
The Thomas's are not good people.
