Im just not sure why he had to first consult with so many people who told him not to do the wrong thing.

(9,073 posts)Maybe he genuinely had no idea (Which, it's Pence. Not outside the realm of possibility there).
However, when Trump is surrounded by a platoon of yes-men, it would've been a thought to have your own reinforcements.
Not that it ever matters with Trump. But at least Pence goes in with plausible deniability. "Look, I asked. They all said no."

It would be a good idea to consult with a couple of electrical engineers, physicists and nuclear scientists to make sure that you shouldnt stick a fork in an electrical socket.
