I wish the Fitzmas high-fiving around these hearings on social media would stop

I'm not a legal scholar. My understanding is that all of the evidence in the world can be driven right up to Merrick Garland's front door and he can STILL decline to prosecute.

The evidence doesn't matter, right? Garland can still decide he's not going to get involved. Correct me if I'm wrong here, folks.

I've been through Fitzmas.

I've been through the Mueller Report.

I'll celebrate the DOJ prosecuting Trump when the DOJ prosecutes Trump, not while watching the Jan 6 hearings.

It’s always Charlie Brown and the football with this orange piece of shit.

Until something actually happens, I find it difficult to believe anything will. He always skates. The GOP always skates.

What will I see before the end of the decade: George RR Martin finishes the Winds of Winter or Donald Trump suffers significant consequences.

I don't think either of them are in the lead at the moment.

We don’t know how this will pan out. I was here for fitzmas. I’m more and more cynical every year. But I don’t begrudge the more optimistic amoung us their high hopes. I cringe when I hear optimism being crushed as “fitzsmas.”

What was a common theme connecting Fitzmas and the Mueller report? Republicans controlled the White House, the Justice Department/US Attorney offices, and the FBI.

Not the case now, is it?

I go back and forth, starting with few expectations beforehand but genuinely impressed by the committee's thorough work and artful presentation. They have done a rock solid job in nailing the bastards so far and some don't like to hear it but Cheney has been great as lead prosecutor in my mind.

I didn't have much in the way of hope this would lead to anything like multiple indictments and prosecutions of high-end traitors because the high level criminals and abusers of power have almost always skated in this country of "equal justice before the law" but I do think history will take the side of the committee in this narrative - if we we still have freedom of expression in the future.

that the hearings are likely to have an important result.

I think it is REALLY unlikely that tfg can win again. I know, I know, I could be wrong, but I really think it isn't going to happen. And that is such a great development. It's like half of what we need.

As much as anyone else, I would like to see tfg go down. More than anyone else bc my family was in NYC construction, and I've seen him ruin and mistreat people for decades.

But just the idea that he won't be in power again is a great development.

I'm happy tonight.

Mueller and his crew spent two years on the report and Barr redacted it in two days.
About half of the report was redacted.
