So the Texas attorney general is also a religious philosopher with apparent knowledge to share on dead children and the afterlife.

Texas AG Faces Backlash for Saying He'd Tell Families Who Lost Children in Uvalde That 'God Always Has a Plan'
Ive heard quite a few folks opine that the parents will be reunited with their children in Heaven eventually. I guess that will be great for the parents, but its got to be weird for the children since their parents will be a lot older than they remember. Also, it kind of sucks that the children do not get to become adults, but have to stay children forever.
My children are adults already, so I wont have any children in Heaven. That kind of sucks that other parents will have perpetual children in Heaven, but other parents wont have children. I guess my parents will be kind of bummed out, too, since it looks like all of their children are going to be older than my father, which will be kind of awkward if you think about it, but he died young.
The State of Texas is lucky to have an attorney general who has this all sorted out.

So you, your kids, grandparents etc will all be the same age.
I don't understand why God tells preachers different things.

But I have a question - for much of humanity's existence, the average life span was less than 35 years - in some societies, a lot less. In medieval and early modern Europe (largely a Christian area) most people didn't even see their 5th birthdays. Wouldn't it to be disorienting to have died as a young girl only to find yourself in heaven, having gone through puberty and all its bodily changes - and now being possibly on the verge of menopause. Has God really thought this all through?

He created humans and listens to us pray in case anyone has any good ideas.
I know my ex wife gives him advice on what to do all of the time.

(9,008 posts)people twisting themselves into knots to try to justify their religious ideas.
or, worse, people are so fucking lazy they just call everything God's will, so they don't have to think, or emote. I mean, why mourn the loss of your child if they are now in heaven?

(90,764 posts)or it was God's will or God had his reasons for wanting them to shoot a bunch of people.
They can always call on the people, like Paxton, who claim it was God's will/God's plan/God has his reasons as expert witnesses. They're quite a few among the right-wing who make this claim about everything.
Why not?
If it was God's plan, then surely that makes the shooter an instrument of God and the shooter was simply doing the Lord's work. Mysterious ways and all that.
Surely all those gun-humping religious folks would agree.

Of course, the current pope has apparently changed god's mind on this (funny how they can do that!). From 2014:
The leader of the Catholic Church made the remark in order to comfort a young boy who was mourning the death of his dog, according to the New York Times.
