Your former "pResident" is guilty of inciting an insurrection, along with pursuing actions he knew to be illegal in order to stay in power - fully knowing that he had lost a free and fair election.
Your mealy-mouthed statements about how he didn't know what he was doing, may not have been aware of the violence he was directly causing, was perhaps ignorant of his legal options have now been debunked by his own lawyers, advisors, and his "inner circle" of family members and friends.
Persisting in defending his behaviour is right up there with "the dog ate my homework" - only a lot less plausible.
It's time to own-up, man-up, and lawyer up, and admit that you've been backing the wrong horse all along - the one that is now shitting all over your party.
You are now in "no way out" territory, and your best course of action - actually your only course of action - is to distance yourselves and your party from a man so politically toxic, hazmat suits may be required.
I realize that the average Republican isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. But for fuck's sake, people, it's time to face-up to the inevitable and throw your political careers on the mercy of a nation - and hope that you somehow survive the consequences.

(31,625 posts)How long before a Mark Meadows, or John Eastman, or Jeffrey Clarke trial? I keep hearing how these people are going to flip on Trump. When will they flip, 2025?
Even Fanni Willis who is going after the head of the snake won't have Trump on trial before 2025, if she decides to indict.

Keep in mind, Republican'Ts believe they have the game rigged in their favor. They see themselves above the law. When the grits hit the griddle, what other option do they have?

(6,988 posts)do the polls show that trump would beat Biden in 2024? Why do the polls show that MAGA repubs are going to win big in November? I can't ignore the polls because they have been more right than not. I am sickened by this.

They're slaves to the sunk cost fallacy, and thus in so deep with their orange deity and their hate so much that they'll never change.
