GOP Death Panels

Repubs tried to scare the US by claiming Obamacare would include "death panels" which would determine who would/would not receive health services.

Fast forward to 2022 and Gov. DeathSantis refuses to order COVID vaccinations for the youngest children, or pay for it.

At the beginning of COVID, Trump refused to send "his" ventilators to NY because it is a blue state.

A few years ago, Trump refused to send wildfire relief to CA.

Ugh.

I hope Charlie Crist demolishes moRon's political aspirations. From the onset, DeathSentence has done everything he could to torpedo common-sense measures -- vaccinations, masks, social gatherings of large numbers (Spring break) -- and even fired the staff member whose job it was to track infection and hospitalization rates.

what will happen the next time republicons control the government.

It'll likely be Desatan, and he's even more vindictive and petty than MF45.

course deathsantis refuses to order vaccines (even though I am sure he has had probably two) for the children. He doesn’t believe in vaccines for kids does he? I hope President Biden will be able to send the vaccine to Florida anyway. Hopefully there will be a backlash from parents who want the vaccine for their children. Republicans are quickly becoming the death party.

unless the money is flowing in their direction, whether tax cuts or tax incentives.

Even rank and file GQP folk do not want money spent on projects which help 'folk'.

use our tax dollars that we pay into our government, that is ostensibly of, by and for the people, to provide universal healthcare.

So we have 29 million Americans that have no health insurance, and of those, 11 million are working poor. And, for those of us lucky enough to have employer-provided healthcare insurance, we have crummy, rationed healthcare with financially crippling copays.

OK, that was my soapbox. And yeah DeSantis is an evil fuck, another amoral, sociopathic Trump wannabe. Right along with the odious Abbott in Texas. I have been an advocate of vaccine mandates since they came out. Trump ruined so very many things. If we would actually have had a real president that took the right steps to contain and control the pandemic, over a million of us wouldn't be dead. Heck, Obama had it under control - we actually had a team in China. But Trump defunded that team to help 'pay' for the giant 2017 tax cut for corporations and billionaires.

It's always about money. When you consider that individual taxpayers like you and me currently pay in a whopping 86% of the federal government's tax revenue, and corporations only 6.8%, we have a serious and unsustainable imbalance that lands right in the lap of the Chicago School of Economics, and their quack supply-side (trickle down) theory that has now become de rigeur in American tax policy. That ratio in the 1970s was ~ 35% corporations:45% individuals.

We are literally destroying the planet because we cannot as a species conquer our own greed.

Oh, and by way of a post script, welcome to DU!

We already have death panels, which are better known as insurance companies. Just sayin'.
