Who needs the Republican Party?

The answer is no-one.

It is not written in stone that we have to have two major political Parties.

Not only do they ever offer anything to better the lives of the American people, they vote against the interests of the people and always for their special interest friends. They divide the people with cultural and fake "freedom" issues, such as the 2nd Amendment and abortion. They serve no useful purpose anymore.

They have proven themselves enemies of this country and this democracy. They plot to overthrow our government and to install a dictator. More than half of their elected Representatives in Congress were complicit in a coup to overthrow the last election. Almost all of the others remained silent. Who needs this shit?

If the Republicans cannot get rid of this rot in their Party, then they no longer deserve to exist. There are plenty of people that can start another Party, if they wish to oppose the Democratic Party. Actually, there are probably enough Democrats to create two different Parties, if that was thought to be a necessity.

The Republican Party serves no useful purpose anymore. They need to be destroyed and swept into the dustbin of history. They have become a threat to the American people.

The present leaders within the Republicans have shown that they are incapable of policing or controlling their own Party. They have been taken over by a gang of criminals. They had two chances to hold the criminals accountable with two impeachment charges and they did nothing. They deserve nothing.

Democracy kind of requires more than one political party to function. Of course, the present GOP is really nothing of a political party: they propose no policies, have no vision of the future, and are limited only to saying "no" to anything the Democrats do propose. Thus, our democracy has really been without more than one political party for some time, which may go some distance to explain why it is functioning so poorly.

It’s not the party but the voters. I’m sure some republicans think there doesn’t need to be a Democratic Party. Lol.

Over 400 charged and punished. And more to come. The party certainly has had accountability at least at the lower end. The rest will come. It’s always a longer process for the leadership.

They mostly remain in the shadows. Unfortunately, Trump gave them legitimacy. They thought he was one of them. And their true natures were shown to the world. And it was not a pretty picture.

I was thinking about this the other day, so I'll rant a bit.
By the numbers, they are a minority of people and voters, but still a substantial block of haters and deplorable who will vote as their leader tells them, and believe the big lie.

I believe many of these extreme, big lie candidates will not survive in the general election, then whine, kick, scream and bring accusations and lawsuits on the outcomes. But some will win, as there are red areas where cult members dwell. The christian coalition gets the vote out too. I think many liberals and Dems have realized how important it is to vote, in every election. While we weren't voting, they had a plan and took control of state legislatures, while right wing media conducted and conducts psy-ops, brainwashing, and cult mentality manipulation.

But my thought was...after the hearings, when most is said and done, and some have been convinced of 45's involvement, there will still be a substantial number of cult 45 members who would vote for and support 45 and his designated representatives. They are crazy, angry, hateful, delusional, dangerous, deplorable and so many more adjectives. They need the party to give them legitimacy, and they control the GOPQ now. Many have left that party over the last 5+ years, but many have stayed.

What do we do with them? I asked myself, as I thought about millions of them ready, willing and able to lie, steal, cheat, and wage war to subvert our government, commit treason, sedition, and anything needed to install their warped leaders and followers. They are a clear and present danger. We can't lock them all up (although if we built more mental institutions and prisons, I'm sure many of them would qualify for a spot.) Maybe we can strip them of their citizenship, and deport them to Russia and other authoritarian regimes. Or send them off into space, with Elon musk. I clearly went all over the place thinking about how we might be rid of them, because they're a danger, even if the majority of us want to peacefully coexist. A few (or just one) can ruin it for the rest of us.

Not preaching doom and gloom. I believe we're in a battle for our democracy, and I guess in a war for it too. But many of us understand that. And there ARE more of us, so odds are in our favor.

The "Republican Party" save a few old school holdouts, no longer exists. It became the party of Trump some time ago.

It's not a political party as we have defined them during the 20th Century.

What we have left are goose-steppers who have sworn to do the will of Donald Trump or his successors. The American electorate has one more chance, maybe two, to save our democracy. Personally I don't see it happening, people in this country are too stupid and self absorbed to govern themselves. They are ripe for the picking.

Betsy Johnson is likely to make a huge dent in the November election...taking votes from both major parties.

She is:

Pro business
Pro choice
Pro gun
Pro timber

Her campaign theme has focused on the issues of street drugs and urban homelessness. She wants more services with a crackdown on camps.

She led the effort to defeat a state cap and trade bill and other carbon tax efforts saying it would hurt her rural constituents.

I AM NOT likely to vote for Johnson. Her views on guns and carbon are troubling. I do think, however, that her message of cutting through gridlock may land her in a strong second position.

Her success may be a barometer of voter frustration with the two-party system in a state where Republicans have won exactly ONE statewide race this century.

Republicans at best, gave lip service to women's issues and the environment. I am saying this knowing the Nixon signed the Clean Water Act and the EPA into existence. Sure, some Republicans may have cared and been more centrist or at least pragmatic in their approach to issues. That changed WAY before Trump came into office. Trump was more a change in style and tactic than substance. He simply started saying the private part out loud.

While the shift from merely conservative to out right fascist was ongoing throughout the Bush years, Republicans jumped, very quickly into their new role.

Maybe there is a need for a "Republican" party, but as long as Conservatism is at its core, ANY party will eventually turn fascistic. Conservatism and democracy are ultimately incompatible. Conservatism is a top down ideology, promoting the idea that there is a natural hierarchy, that society is best structured as a pyramid, with the "best" (Wealthy, White, Protestant Christian, Men) at the top, and the rest below, serving to maintain the status quo. The role of government for Conservatives is "to preserve the natural order" and to keep people in line and in their place.

...who were former Republicans, but they found a way to self-destruct. I'm sure they could do it again. They have never claimed to represent the people. But they always want the people to support them. In order to do that, they had to lie to the people. Just like they are lying right now.

One party rule inevitably leads to stagnation and corruption.

I'd actually love to have several viable parties, with no party having an absolute majority.
