Rand Paul refuses to talk with N.J. judge whose son was murdered, then blocks judge protection bill

Two days after Congress passed legislation to increase security for U.S. Supreme Court justices and their families, U.S. Sen. Rand Paul blocked an effort to do the same for other federal judges.

Paul, R-Ky., prevented passage of a bill designed to make it harder for people to obtain personal information about federal judges. His action came shortly after he refused to talk with U.S. District Court Judge Esther Salas when she approached him in a Senate office building hallway, according to a video from U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez.

The measure was named for Salas’ 20-year-old son, Daniel Anderl, who was killed in July 2020 at her family’s home in North Brunswick by someone claiming to be a FedEx delivery driver who came to the door planning to murder the judge.

“No judge in America should have to fear for their lives and the safety of their families as they work to uphold the Constitution, our democracy and ensure all people have equal justice under the law,” said the measure’s chief sponsor, Menendez, on the Senate floor.

All he does is grandstand to get attention and block meaningful legislation without ever proposing anything substantive himself.

Just like Rick Scott and a good number of other GOcreePs, If you don't come with a suitcase of "donations" to their campaigns or personal Pacs or funds, they won't talk to you.
