Carl Paladino said "hungry and dumb" Black people were "conditioned" to vote for Democrats and...

... "you can't teach them differently."

In another comment, he said a woman who accused Trump of sexual assault probably enjoyed it.

New York Republican congressional candidate Carl Paladino told a radio host in late 2016 that Black Americans were kept "dumb and hungry" so they could be conditioned to only vote for the Democratic Party, saying, "You can't teach them differently."

Paladino, then a Buffalo school board member, was defending himself against allegations that previous comments he made were racist and said he cared about Black people, but they had been conditioned to be a base for the Democrats.
"I don't think of myself in any way as a racist," Paldino said on local Buffalo radio station WBEN, saying he fought for policies to help Black children while on the Buffalo School Board.

I believe he said he loves the poorly educated? But I interrupted you; you were saying something about dumb voters?

They want the masses "hungry and dumb." It's what keeps them in power.

This guy's a piece of work. Racist, misogynist, fascist.

Paladino made the comments on a radio show in which he was defending himself over racist comments he had previously made, and had been roundly criticized for, about then-President Barack Obama and then-first lady Michelle Obama. Paladino had said he would like to see Michelle Obama "return to being a male and let loose in the outback of Zimbabwe where she lives comfortably in a cave with Maxie, the gorilla," and that he hoped Barack Obama would die of Mad Cow Disease after having sex with a cow.

8. An inarticulate way to push the "Plantation Mentality" trope that Conservatives trot out.

Completely offensive. As if Black people are simply like Pavlov's dog salivating at the sound of the bell. Black people have agency and understand which party is AT LEAST most likely to make legislation that helps to uplift them. Neither party has been excellent in policy making that helps to provide Black people with the opportunities that have been kept from them, but the Democratic Party has tried, and tried in earnest since the 1960's at least. When LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act into law, after years of agitation from MLK Jr. and other activists, he knew that the Democratic Party would suffer the loss of the entire South for generations, but he also knew that the path toward racial justice and equality had to start somewhere. Those Southern Democrats who were "abandoned" by the party, did not just retreat silently into the darkness. THEY SWITCHED PARTIES. They switched because while overt racism was covered over within the Republican Party of the 1960's and beyond, it was still right there. Reagan with his "welfare queen" and "Young Buck eating lobster" were clear signs to the racists that they were welcome into the Republican Party. Black Americans could see the shift. They understood that while the history of the Democratic Party was not exemplary with regards to racial justice, that they would have a hell of a lot better chance to influence the Democratic Party, who basically ran off the overt racists; than the Republican Party who welcomed them in with open arms.

For Paladino to espouse this idea and say it out loud so stupidly, shows just how little regard the Republican Party has for Black Americans and or person of color.

What is an "olive branch"? What is Coulter talking about? Why the hell would Black people want "olive branches"? I know they mean peace or ending conflict, but what would Conservatives ever offer to Black people, that fits with the Conservative worldview, that would have ANY kind of meaning to Black people?

Conservatives view the world in terms of a hierarchy, with White people at the top of the pyramid. There is not enough space atop the pyramid for Black people. Any "olive branch" that Conservatives offer to Black people would mean Black people acknowledging their inferior status on the pyramid.

Of course Black people as a whole, would swat that away. "Hey Black people, we will stop our open aggression on you if you just come and take your spot at our feet". Some olive branch.
