"Yeah, I'd like to be, uh, added to that pardon list before, uh, we leave the White House..."
It''s almost funny. I said "almost."
I didn't even hear it during Watergate.

(115,670 posts)But it seems that Jared was compiling a pardon list, and I bet TFG was keeping track of who was doing favors for him and who was the most successful at furthering the Big Lie. If you did well you got a pardon, like Oprah handing out cars, but Eastman didn't get one because his plan didn't work. I'd love to know who else was on the list and which members of Congress also asked to be on it.

(2,125 posts)The inability to emit valid pardons should be curtailed after even the first impeachment.

(62,406 posts)I think most White Houses have such a list, but it is drawn up by some professionals in the White House. The list would probably be of people who for some reason some group in the WH thought had been wrongly sentenced or who had suffered some miscarriage of justice by most standards.
The idea of pardons as a presidential favor is something else entirely.

(6,169 posts)It's like the old pictures of the cart driver holding a long stick on which a carrot dangled in front of a donkey, to get the donkey to move forward to where the driver wanted to go.
But in reality the donkey is an elephant...a supremely dumb elephant, but certainly NOT a donkey.
