(9,073 posts)I was walking past one yesterday and noticed they have a Deluxe Box for $7.49.
It's the same box that was $5.
I'm going to start upcharging various things in my life by slapping "deluxe" on the name.
"I could make you usual eggs and toast or you could have my deluxe breakfast."
"What's deluxe breakfast?"
"It is also eggs and toast. But you have to clean the laundry room after."

(25,855 posts)Or at least that's what I saw yesterday when I was out and about.
I'm fortunate in that I'm retired, don't get out much, and so only have to get gas once a month, unless I'm driving somewhere, like Denver or Kansas City.
In 2020 I put a small notebook in my car, and every time I get gas I note the date, the amount per gallon, and the total. So far this year I've paid some two and a half times more for gas. However, in 2020 I took zero driving trips, and so far this year I've gone to Colorado Springs and Kansas City. Next week I'm off to Norman, OK. My science fiction things are all starting up again, which is nice and very much worth it.

Well, it was a mistake that I did, you know, said former gas station manager John Szczecina.

(12,652 posts)Apparently, it's cheaper at the Marine Corps bases. Average appears to be $6.25 in town, but a few places will drop down to $5.60 if you pay cash and get a car wash.
The surcharge per gallon for credit and debit cards is ridiculous, most vehicles have more than 9 gallon tanks so the average person buying gas easily pays double or triple than the gas station pays per card transaction. Some places will tack 10 to 20 cents on (depending on the state) per gallon, while an average Visa/Master card fee for franchises and large company stores is typically only 20 to 30 cents per card transaction. Anything over that becomes "bookkeeping costs" for the store.
At least the local Arco just tack the process fee for cards on up front.

(15,807 posts)We also have an ICE truck. It mostly sits in the driveway though. The EV is getting us here and there except for longer range trips.
Gas around here is $6.29 for premium, which is what I'd be putting in my car if I hadn't replaced it with an EV. Lucky timing when the pandemic hit and before the supply issues were a thing. Really lucky all around because the demand was there for my used ICE car.
We get to go to two funerals out of state next week, and we get to take the truck. it'll be at least 4 tanks of gas to get there and back.
If I could afford it, I'd replace the truck with a Ford EV. But this was likely the last truck we'll buy, and it really does sit in the driveway unless we need to haul something to/fro or take an out-of-state trip. Dh used to take his truck on mini-errands on the weekend. Now it's really rare to do so.

(31,386 posts)My car takes premium. I usually fill up--using discount gas points awarded where I grocery shop--once a month and I often have enough points to reduce the cost of premium to the cost of regular.
