https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/mark-shields-dies-at-age-85-encyclopedic-knowledge-of-us-politics/ar-AAYChad?ocid=U483DHP&li=BBnbfcLMark Shields, the renowned Democratic political journalist, columnist, and commentator for PBS, died on Saturday morning at the age of 85.
Shields' passing was announced on Twitter by one of his longtime colleagues, PBS NewsHour anchor and editor Judy Woodruff. Woodruff noted that Shields passed with his wife, Anne Hudson Shields, by his side. She also commended him for his "decades" of work with PBS and "his encyclopedic knowledge of American politics."

I think I remember him being on a weekly CNN political talk show, maybe called "Capitol Gang" back in the 90s.

His daughter, Amy Shields Doyle, said the cause was complications of kidney failure.

Mark has an illustrious career. He was on the Shields/Gigot and later the Shields/Brooks PBS Newshour segments. They were must-watch TV every Friday for sure. Also, he did, indeed, host Capitol Gang on CNN for at least a decade. It was Carlson, Shields, Novak, Hunt and O'Bierne. The "gang" was also a wonderful part of CNN election night coverage. Used to watch the "gang" religiously every Saturday at 4 p.m. on CNN.
Truly a giant. RIP Mark.
