That's what I suspected and went looking for pictures of his bike. Sure enough--toe cages.

Couple weeks ago I dug my old bike out of storage to save a little on gas. Soon found out that it's pretty easy to get a foot stuck in the cage as one gets a little older. I removed the cages and all is well now.

Most bicycle makers are relieved they don't have to use the extra re-enforced titanium steel that would support Trump in the first place. Plus, he doesn't read well enough to understand the instruction manual. Those things have TWO pedals, after all. Kinda intricate for the likes of him.
