(49,445 posts)Being gay is not what they do, it's who they are. Republicans can prattle on about how it's a choice, but deep in their hearts they know it's a fundamental feature of a person.
And the Inerrant Word of God tells them that that fundamental feature of a person is a SIN AGAINST GOD.
And it drives them absolutely nuts that gay people don't act guilty about being gay! And it drives them even nuttier because the government won't punish them for being gay. In fact, in some places being gay is a protected class!
And because it's the Inerrant Word of God telling them this, there is no changing their position because you can't bargain with sin.
And the LCR people don't seem to get that. They think by being pro-capitalism or whatever will somehow excuse the whole SIN AGAINST GOD thing.

(1,276 posts)then maybe they are gay, and dont want to be out. Clearly they must have had gay tendencies if they had to make that choice. Me, I have loved boys since as far back as I can recall. I never had to make a choice. That shit was pre installed. Furthermore, even if it is a choice, how is that anyone elses business anyway? I will admit though, if I were gay, I think I would stay in the closet. People are too mean, and they scare me.

(1,276 posts)Maybe people really can start out straight, or gay, and switch later on. Regardless though, this thing about it being a choice, therefore you can pick who youre attracted to, or fall in love with is something theyve decided they can punish someone for. This seems to be based on their religious beliefs I guess. I just dont understand where they get off judging anyone either way. They need to stick to trying to pray it away, and leave people alone.

(49,445 posts)It's basically assumed that you're going to be attracted to the opposite sex and it's impressed into your noggin when you're little. Even in an open and gay-friendly environment, 90% of the people around you are going to be straight.
The Talibornagain are just driven insane by the thought that somewhere out there perhaps near by, gay men are having consensual, recreational sex with other gay men, and doing it without the imposed burden of shame, guilt, and sin.

(10,481 posts)But um yeah we did! You fucking sell out your community by voting in those who hurt us and yourselves. I have no fucking sympathy for these log cabin idiots. They aren't welcome to our community. We don't feed the mouth that bites us

(3,678 posts)The Republicans make them live out in the forest, away from the town. But every once in a while, one of them gets ballsy enough to wander into town to ask for something and is promptly run out. "Back to yer cabin, perverts!"
Still, they won't leave their masters.

(12,443 posts)All this trash talk about pedos and homos and trans people somehow didn't apply to them because they were 'good' Republicans?
Really?
Log Cabin members need to read their history books or take a glance at the 'celebrated' government of Orban's Hungary. Homosexuality or any gender bending is taboo, unwanted, isolated and ultimately pushed back into the closet. Or worse. The Church du jour will help facilitate the government's oppressive dictates because mass religion has plenty of experience in forcing the masses to 'behave' or else.
Illiberal governments demand conformity to what the LEADER says is acceptable. No other voice or any drawing outside the lines is acceptable.
Vulnerable groups within Republican circles need to get their heads out of their . . . you know where.
This is not a threat only to one minority group. This is a threat to everyone.
Wake the hell up.
