What would happen IF like Florida or Texas SC or any other RETHUGLICON state SC, refused to order one of its its own counties to do the same? Then what would happen?

what the state must do. The Vice President just counts the certified votes and in 2024 the Vice President is going to be a Democrat. The court would have to decide the issue before it is time for the counting.

scotus is lining up a case to take on next session which will allow them to make a ruling that the judiciary - either federal or state - has no role in federal elections at the state level.

Elections (both federal and state) would solely be decided by state legislatures when an issue comes up.

Apparently some wanted to use the shadow docket this session to issue an emergency order, but it was kav who insisted it be done in regular session if there was no immediate crisis.

They have 5 votes for the position according to kagro; just not in the shadow docket.

Would this rise to an immediate crisis? If the county refuses the court order and appeals it, would that fast track it?

It's not just what is written in the constitution, a lot of these actions violate state law, which requires courts to get involved to resolve.

This ruling would give republican states a virtual lock on the electoral college, as well as federal election results.

What if they pass a law that says all candidates for statewide or federal office must be approved by the legislature? How many good candidates of ours would even appear on ballots?

The strange part about this NM thing is that these were primary votes. REfusing to certify meant that local candidates for county wide office would not be on the ballot, for either party. State wide and Federal elections would still be on the Nov ballot no matter what Otero county did. What was their objective?
