around getting shots for their tots in Florida?
I was just thinking of someone who is doing stucco work for us. We first met him a year and a half ago when he did stucco work for Home Depot after they installed some exterior doors in our home. I remember him as a young man who was laughing along with two friends who tagged along on the project, either to learn or to help. It didn't matter to us as long as he did a good job. And he did. He's an artist. We liked his work so much that we took his card. When he was here it was the peak of Covid and he refused food and water from us. The three were so careful with Covid precautions, which impressed me because they were so young.
Well, we installed windows and called him back to do more stucco work for us and when he arrived I told my husband he didn't look like the same guy. But he was quite competent. My husband later told me that he had a conversation with him and learned that his wife had died and he now has to raise twins alone. I didn't find out what she died of, but I'll ask when I see him this week, if he comes by. He isn't reliable with his appointments, which doesn't bother us because we have so much else going on. And it's not hard to figure out that his troubles escalated because of the loss of his wife. With two kids to take care of, and child care to sort out, I can see why he would have to take jobs close to home to make that 6 o'clock pickup.
Under these difficulties it's no surprise that Home Depot dropped him, but he also said the guy who was his contact with the company stiffed him on a job. Now he finds himself on his own. He definitely seemed haggard and had that look of someone who's being hunted.
Well, long rant just to conclude this post by saying that Ron De Santis could be putting this guy in further hardship if his wife died of Covid and his children may be susceptible to the virus. That shot would be one less worry for a young father.

I think these health departments and their clinics are answerable to the state health department in FL, without a lot of autonomy, so I doubt they will be able to deliver at the level intended or perhaps, at all? Perhaps the WH will try to go around DeSantos and allow them to work with the Federal procurement system directly, but that is not clear whether all CAN. Throughout the pandemic, in most (or all) states, the local public health departments get their vaccines from the state health department and thus the Feds only have to deal directly one major agency/state (in addition to the private health and pharmacy sector).
