Re the use of Instagram for Amber Alerts

I'm very divided by this announcement today. Of course, we all want kidnapped and missing children found asap. But the use of my personal social media account by the government without my permission is very troubling. A fascist regime would do much harm with this power. Is no one questioning g this?

Any government agency posting on my account without my permission.. I am careful who can communicate with me personally. Aren't we all? If not, we should be.

DOT is going to blast Amber Alerts on everyone's Instagram accounts in a designated area where someone is missing. A good use to find missing people, at this initial stage of the program. However, it's obtrusive and a violation of privacy rights and living in DeathSantis land, he could use it against us. I'm torn at this point.

It's part of a new partnership between Meta — the parent company for Facebook — and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, said Kate Randle, public policy manager at Meta.
A private company is working with a nonprofit to get these alerts out via social media. No government is involved.

Even though I am not in Florida, I access a certain Florida location several times a day.

I view the Amber Alerts to be of the highest online importance. Part of my job in a previous life was getting disabled children home after school (usually mentally disabled, not physically disabled.).

I get Amber Alerts on my cell phone, on my TV, on my AM radio. Why not on my Facebook page and my YouTube home page?

I'm sorry, but those alerts are not actively seeking information from you. They are not spying on you. They are simply notifying you of something going on in your area. It's not an invasion of privacy by the government.

Long time opponent of those?

.....if you think you have ANY sort of privacy on Instagram. You don't. Your activity, IP address, location, preferences, etc. are already tracked by various entities, some worse than our government.
