For People Who Watch CNN

Just curious if the cable news anchors there are toeing the line and not saying the term, "The Big Lie?"

When a phrase gets repeated over and over again people believe it, even if it's the truth. We can't have people believing the Big Lie is true.

Even though I think this is much bigger than just Trump and should encompass all the Republicans who are repeating these lies.

A problem with "The Big Lie" is that conservative radio is already twisting that phrase to mean the legitimacy of Biden's Presidency is The Big Lie.

All CNN said was not use the specific term "The Big Lie". Never said to deny that Trump and his supporters are lying about the election outcome.

is to repeat it over and over again.

99% of Americans don't know the difference between a fence and a wall.

CNN asked them to stop saying "The Big Lie," Why?

Some conservative radio talkers are using the term "The Big Lie" to mean that Biden is not a legitimate President.

The only caveat I have is that it doesn't include the Republicans pushing the lies. I don't think Trump is an anomaly that "took over" the Republican Party so much as he is the result of decades of radicalization within the Party.

But only the exact term spells out what Trump and his supporters are really doing.

The Big Lie — a gross distortion or misrepresentation of the facts, especially when used as a propaganda device by a politician or official body.

what I've read here, is that the edict states that "The Big Lie" should be replaced with something close to: "Trimps Lies".

Which I feel is more appropriate and importantly, puts the onus, the blame on Individual One.

For me, the Big Lie descriptor implies it's the biggest of all time. For me, there's been far too many other Big Lies, most signifcantly in recent years that rank in my mind with the current context, was the big lie that got us to invade Iraq which launched untold loss to treasury and life. one the most corrupt and needless wars on this scale.

There have been so many Big Lies. Saying Trumps Lies is big, but it's Trump's big lies, not Bush/Cheney's big lies.

Just saying I think it's appropriate. I liked reading that the lame "Breaking News" banner for every single news item has been rebuked by the same advisor. That was another thing I have not missed when I cut the cord years ago

I can't actually say whether CNN hosts are complying.

Trump has already turned the phrase "the big lie" on its head into meaning "the stolen election."

Like "Defund the Police", catchy, vague, and inaccurate terms are bad when they can be used against you. Accuracy is far more important.

Getting people to believe something that they are told "over and over again" is the essence of the "Big Lie" propaganda technique.

"Election Fraud", "Trickle Down", Climate Change", "CRT", "Grooming/Wokeness", "Migrant Caravans", "Christian Nationalism"...they've got a Mighty Wurlitzer spewing out so much disinformation that disproving all of it is impossible; it needs to be picked apart.
The term "The Big Lie" is rather useless -it carries little more impact to most listeners than saying "Houston, we have a Problem...".
Identifying the subject is paramount if you're fighting it.
Just my opinion.

Licht has asked anchors to use terms like "Trump's election lies" instead of the "Big Lie" as a way to raise the journalistic standards at a network that too often looks like a source of infotainment and opinion, rather than journalism.

The has been no move to deny Trump's dishonesty about the election. Quite to the contrary.

"Trump's election lies" is more on-point and more descriptive than the "Bie Lie."

Using phrases like the Big Lie is not helpful in that regard. It is far from the only problem at that network.
