Those on the bubble are anticipating that the DOJ's wheels will start to turn, and they want to be prepared for a defense. They are correct both ways. Time to lawyer-up.

It will take a Constitutional expert to defend the Trump inner circle from seeing the insides of a Federal prison for the rest of their miserable lives.

Never in our history has this happened on a scale we are seeing now. Democrats running for offices up and down the ticket should run on being DEFENDERS OF DEMOCRACY at every turn. Illustrate how close we came to LOSING it for the seditious lusts of a man to remain in power at all costs.

conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch.

Looks pretty damn straightforward to me.

The J6 committee is conducting a masterclass in messaging. Not only have they featured mostly republicans in the hearings, they are participating in an unprecedented drip ... drip ... drip ... of stunning news reports regarding physical evidence such as emails. And as each new stunning revelation sees the light of day, the media is picking up on it, ensuring it gets spread widely. Well done, committee!

Let's also not forget that McCarthy ensured that we'd have meaningful hearings instead of political posturing because he pulled all of his choices off the committee once Pelosi rejected his two worst trump butt-lickers. Remember that Pelosi had approved of a couple of the R picks but she rejected Gym Jordan and another trump butt-licker, and in a fit of pique, McCarthy took his toys and went home. Thanks, McCarthy!

..ffg... not that McCarthy can't to stupid all on his own, pero that was brilliant of Pelosi to just let them decide bc she.has dealt with republkkklan chicanery for years and knows how to beat them at their own game every fucking time.

It's refreshing that we don't have hear jumping Jordan or other drama-maga stomping for ffg by iterating his big lie, hate propganda during hearings. It's all facts baby!

The truth will eat away at every fucking lie, shed light on every scheme, crime the ffg and his ghoulish sycophants [incl. His grifting family, GOP members] attempted or accomplished eg fraudulent campaign funds.

I wish this select committee had been available to make a presentation during the 2nd impeachment hearing. But alas that wasn't to be, and Moscow Mitch chickened out when it was time to put cards on the table.

So this hearing is the one that's going to count. They're making history right now.

We're talking about the future of America here. No hyperbole.

I'm still wondering what else they have in store for us. Remember also that the committee said they may have additional hearings. One was postponed and I assume they'll make that one up, but they can have more. And they're also continuing to take depositions, so there definitely is more to come.

They were totally right that presenting the whole to the public was necessary. So many of us have been living with the bits and pieces for so long that we can get lost in the details. Knitting it all together presents all of the pieces in a more meaningful way, one where we can see how it all fits together and makes a huge impact.

Senate Republicans Block A Plan For An Independent Commission On Jan. 6 Capitol Riot
Updated May 28, 20213:31 PM ET

https://www.npr.org/2021/05/28/1000524897/senate-republicans-block-plan-for-independent-commission-on-jan-6-capitol-riot

snip...

Bipartisan legislation to establish an independent commission to investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol has failed in the Senate, as Republicans staged their first filibuster since President Biden took office to block the plan.

The final vote Friday was 54-35, but Republicans withheld the votes necessary to bring the bill up for debate. Just six GOP senators joined with the Democrats, leaving the measure short of the 60 votes needed to proceed.

The proposed commission was modeled on the one established to investigate the 9/11 terror attacks, with 10 commissioners — five Democrats and five Republicans — who would have subpoena powers. A Democratic chair and Republican vice chair would have had to approve all subpoenas with a final report due at the end of the year.

The House approved the measure 252-175 last week with 35 Republicans joining all Democrats in support of the plan.

Kevin McCarthy was not one of the House repubs who voted yes.

They care about their guns, preserving white supremacy, forcing all LGBTQ back into the closet, preventing all abortions even to save a woman’s life, outlawing all forms of birth control, and for the anti-government types setting up a government that caters to their uneducated whims. If democracy goes away so they can have all they, they won’t care.

Claims of losing democracy will not balance the Republican mantra of inflation, inflation, inflation, gun rights, gun rights, gun rights. Plus, there’s the whole anti-LGBTQ agenda that is now being spread among the cult.

Mid and lower level staff have already been coming forward.

EVERY J6 Hearing witness has been a Republican.

Do I remember correctly? It was couched in very warm, pleasant, and diplomatic terms, and could have been interpreted as a message to low-level staffers saying, "if you saw something, please say something."

But I suspected it was also a warning to guilty parties higher up, saying essentially, "you'd better come and make a deal while you can!"

Most Americans Don't Want Biden or Trump to Run Again: Poll
https://www.democraticunderground.com/10142931966

On the question regarding should former President Donald Trump run for President in 2024, 55 percent of people said no while 31 percent said yes.
...
When asked whether Biden should run again for President in 2024, 64 percent of people said no while 21 percent said yes.

Now that poll completed a week ago - before a bunch of the information on Jan 6th came out.

BUT how Biden could be 10 pts behind Trump in that poll is mindboggling.

The GOP probably hate Trump nearly as much as we do.
They're going to gas him.
It's only a question of when it suits them best.
"Fair and balanced" is Trump taking on water for his crimes so drown Americans with how bad Biden is.

The real danger is what is quietly happening for the next elections. Republicans are changing laws at the state level to help make what Trump tried to pull off 'more legal' with a Conservative SCOTUS as the biased umpire and a media 90% owned and controlled by entities sympathetic to Republicans.

Trump is guilty. We all know it.
He's sucking up media air to take our eyes off the ball in the game that really matters.

That's what troubles me.
Where's the game plan to deal with that?
The longer it goes unchallenged, the more they consolidate to make it tougher to remove or combat.
It feels weird.
We can see it happening before our eyes but there doesn't seem to be anything meaningful we can do about it.
So we take comfort in the hearings demonstrating that Trump is guilty - which most of us knew all along ... while the democracy slips away.

Sorry for the negative post but this is bugging me more and more.

If they are coming forward behind the scenes, it's likely to provide their testimony in exchange for immunity. At this point, that will only help if the testimony they can provide will help the committee get more information on the culpability for crimes committed by folks that are higher up the food chain.
