BREAKING: Multiple officers were inside Robb Elementary School with rifles and at least one ballistic shield at 11:52 a.m. the day of the shooting, new video and other evidence shows. They didn’t enter the classroom for another 58 minutes. More soon via @statesman and @KVUE. 1/2

Investigators believe this is significant because it indicates they had more than enough firepower and protection to enter the classroom before they did. Officers were growing impatient far sooner: “If there’s kids in there we need to go in there,” one said on body camera video.

New: No security footage from inside Robb shows officers trying to open the doors classrooms 111 and 112, where the shooting occurred. The Uvalde schools police chief had told us he tried to open one door while other officers tried to open the other.

Also new: A Halligan bar—an ax-like forcible-entry tool used by firefighters to get through locked doors—wasn’t brought into Robb until an hour after the first officers entered the building. Authorities didn’t use it, and instead waited for keys.

And the more important the mission, saving schoolchildren, the greater the acceptable losses.

The first units to land on D-Day were expected to be essentially wiped out.

In this phone call approximately 10 minutes after the shooter entered the school, school district police chief Arredondo says he and the other (reportedly 10) officers inside the school "don't have enough firepower" to confront the shooter because they only have pistols

"When the cops came, the cop said: 'Yell if you need help!' And one of the persons in my class said 'help.' The guy overheard and he came in and shot her," the boy told KENS 5. "The cops barged into that classroom. The guy shot at the cops. And the cops started shooting."

He said after the shooting stopped he saw police were in the room and came out from under the table
