Oklahoma "man" causes panic when he carries semi-automatic rifle into AT&T store.

An incident in Broken Arrow a week ago raised fresh questions about how witnesses and law enforcement should respond when people walk around in public armed with assault-style rifles.

A man in a tactical vest with a semi-automatic rifle and holstered pistol prompted Broken Arrow Justice Center employees to lock their doors June 13, according to a news release.

AT&T store employees who then saw the man proceeded to “run out the back of the store,” and multiple 911 calls came from the parking lot of a Target store that he was walking toward, Broken Arrow police said.

Due to Oklahoma’s constitutional carry laws, police determined that at each location the man “was not breaking the law” with the rifle and vest.

But “quite honestly, nobody needs to be walking down the street with a rifle,” Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton said in an interview about dealing with such situations. “But I don’t make the laws; we just try to live by them and do a very difficult job in a world that’s got those people in it.”

.

It's not possession, but it raises the question how unhinged that person is to feel the need to do it.

It seems that they are desperately seeking negative attention or are at a crisis point and didn't go off.

He was acting like a fucking idiot, but apparently that is not against the law in Oklahoma. In California he would have been arrested for possession, brandishing, and for carrying without a permit on the handgun. If the rifle was an AR-15, he would also likely have run afoul of our AWB.

That is why, despite the high cost of living. I like living in CA, even as an owner of firearms myself. We don't seem to have the stupid ass gun culture that a lot of other states have.

Unless the police or family members ( in some cases) submitted a petition to have the guy's guns removed, and a judge agreed, there would be no reason to take them away.

We can certainly agree that the guy is an asshole, but he didn't do anything illegal in his state.

He was arrested, however, after he was found to have a recently-issued unrelated warrant and to be in possession of an over .45-caliber firearm and brass knuckles, both of which are illegal in Oklahoma.

It could be worse. He could have been brandishing a dildo in Alabama.

This make is illegal to carry a weapon into the establishment. Even with concealed carry.

But the repubs have changed a lot of the rules here in Ohio, such as "Constitutional Carry" and changing knife carry laws. Although you do not have to have a CCW license to carry a weapon, all of the rules about being a convicted felon, and other legal & mental situations still apply. Could get a lot of these fools like this guy arrested,

This is also where "Red Flag" laws could help in expanded ways. David Hogg was being interviewed and described how in Florida some MAGA crazy sent his mother a death threat about the NRA. They were able to use the Scott signed Red Flag laws in Florida to actually have the MAGA have his weapons seized, and his "Right" to "keep and bear arms" terminated.
