As lies continue to fly all around.
With the Select Committee only half-way thru its Hearings, the Trump team is beginning to sweat.
Lately, Trump has visited the Evangelicals and the NRA, in an attempt to shore up his support. He cannot afford to lose either of these loyal partners.
Today, it is being reported that they may have found a "fall guy" to take the blame for the "fake elector" scam? That must be the one for which they are most fearful? There are several avenues for criminal prosecution but they seem most concerned about the "fake electors".
There are indications that some on the right are turning on each other. Just this week, Senator John Cornyn and Rep. Dan Crenshaw were attacked at the Texas GOP Convention. The Proud Boys were mocking Crenshaw by calling him "Eyepatch McCain". Neither of these legislators were liberal Democrats. They were strong Trump supporters.
But, sometimes, the truth is slow in getting off the blocks. However, the Committee is scheduled to expose even more of their lies today.
My hope is that they will keep the Committee active until the truth is completely uncovered, however long it might take.

(21,280 posts)to indict Trump and his inner circle. I do not think that Garland has made that decision yet.
The best bet is going through Eastman and the fake electors, I have said that from the beginning.
I just heard the Michigan AG say that if Garland does not investigate the fake electors she is going to. She sent the criminal referral to DOJ 6 months ago.

(111,069 posts)When they get the details about what Lindsey Graham and Mark Meadows said in their calls to the same officials.
I think the Committee should remain open until Garland is convinced.

(21,417 posts)As he has said more than once, he is investigating and following wherever the evidence leads, no matter who it leads to.
DOJ investigations are not open to the public in the way that House investigations are.

(9,959 posts)Each state that sent fake electors to Congress should investigate, indict, and prosecute independently from the DOJ, which may be trying to tie everything into one big case. For state purposes, I would think it immaterial that the fraudulent actions were undertaken at the request of someone in Trumps orbit. Thats like saying I can be excused for robbing a bank because my mother told me to.
Each state has evidence of election fraud. Why not prosecute now on state charges instead of waiting? Just letting these people go about their business with impunity until the DOJ eventually gets around to building a case just gives them a green light to keep undermining electionsand we have an important one coming ip in just a few months.

(111,069 posts)...who understands, like Abe Lincoln, that anything is possible with public sentiment, but nothing is possible without it. The latest polls showing 60% of the people believed Donald Trump should be charged was the public sentiment going in the right direction.

(16,719 posts)Can follow. Bury them. Literally and figuratively. DOJ knows which are easiest to prove. Start with those?

(10,138 posts)The committee has hard evidence incriminating Trump, Giuliani, Eastman, et al. Trump will claim 1/6 insurrectionists overreacted to his incitement and acted on their own, not so with the fake electors.

(53,758 posts)scheme, and I mean the entire trump gang and the dummies who signed fake elector docs and presented themselves as fake electors should be jailed just on general principals for being stupid enough to actually sign the evidence of their guilt.
I repeat, they actually signed the evidence of their guilt.

(7,430 posts)So Garland should be issuing indictments of Trump's inner circle first, in order to make their bagging of Trump all the more easy. Garland is likely weighing the seriousness of the whole affair, but doing so for an extended period of time begins look like he's counting angels on the head of a pin. Stay simple, Merrick.

(10,044 posts)following the Trumps since Sept 2020 and have footage of them before and after the attempted coup (not sure about during). The 1/6 committee has also subpoenaed all footage of discussions of overturning the elections etc. I mean here we are again, instead of "Lordy I hope there are tapes" to Lordy we have video.
