... he apparently has no qualms about putting back into power the same group of thugs that wanted to do so in the first place.
From the AP:
But while Bowers said the efforts by Giuliani and other Trump backers have been hurtful, he does not levy any criticism on Trump directly and would support him if he were on the ballot.
If he is the nominee, if he was up against Biden, Id vote for him again, Bowers said. Simply because what he did the first time, before COVID, was so good for the county. In my view it was great.
They'd rather put democracy at grave risk again than vote for a Democrat.

(25,499 posts)Amidst all the threats, attempted bribes, and everything else Trump ordered, he still doesn't find him at fault.
It takes some serious self-delusion to come to that conclusion.

(2,273 posts)I agree, though that admission gives him additional credibility, both in the Committee, but more importantly if he ever testifies in Court.

(28,506 posts)I think thats the Texas/Arizona motivation behind the Trump support. The SCOTUS is just another gubmint branch that personifies evil Washington DC.

(82,849 posts)It's tempting to see some of these folks as heroes, but so many of them would vote for the former guy all over again if he is on the ballot in 2024. "I didn't support a violent coup." You're not supposed to support a violent coup, muthafuckah. What d'you want, a cookie?

(117 posts)And there, folks, is the root of the problems our country faces. Theyre gonna put on their blindfolds, cover their ears and vote Republican REGARDLESS. Were all smack-dab in the middle of a real Civil War. It is not coming - we are in it right now.

Now this. What a worthless, hypocritical freakin' POS. There is no hope for our democracy, save for a certain person croaking.

(4,298 posts)Besides making the 1% wealthier and eliminating regulations that help keep us safe from corporate vultures, WTF did he do for anyone? He tried to eliminate healthcare for millions of people, he helped obliterate civil rights, he scammed the Feds out of millions, And he made it acceptable to hate out loud.
I keep hearing this from the J6 protestors. But I have not one of them name one efing thing that he did for them.

(11,452 posts)When asked early in the presidential campaign why they were voting for TFG they said, "he's our chance to hurt the dems and libs." This is all they care about.
He didn't do it so much to save our democracy as to save his own ass. The stove was hot and he used good advice not to touch.

(15,557 posts)But underneath it all, most of these GOP who are willing to testify against Trump don't do it out of their loyalty to the country, or their God or whatever. Make no mistake about that. They do it for their own reputations and so that history won't remember they were a party to putting him in power. Only when their lives and their loved ones lives are on the line do they "take a stand" on anything.
It's self-centered and not selfless. I think for Cheney it's more about revenge at this point.

(40,234 posts)Trump is a degenerate, a liar, a con artist, a fraud, a sexual predator, and a racist. I probably left several things out. So I find it rather perplexing that a man who claims to have such deep religious faith would vote for someone like this. It is just sick.
