(8,387 posts)There is also a case pending against The Gateway Pundit in Missouri.
That one is in state court. The defendants tried to move it to federal court, but the federal court kicked it back to state court on motion of the plaintiffs.

Amended the OP to point out that entry.

(58,785 posts)As for Giuliani, his bankruptcy court would allocate settlement funds among the various plaintiffs. Hope their judgments are in the pile when that time comes.

(8,387 posts)The entire point of a civil lawsuit is to determine whether a bundle of money is going to move from one side of the courtroom to the other side, or not.
If that result can be reached in less time and effort, that is a good thing.
Once in a while, the outcome of a civil lawsuit can compel someone to do something, or compel them to stop doing something. Other outcomes can be things like declaring who owns something and who does not.
But, in most instances, the point is to obtain a sum of money without going broke in the process.
Quite obviously, their decision to accept settlement from OAN and its owners was informed by their counsel, who have experience and likely a percentage interest in the outcome.
Nothing can ever really compensate for physical and psychological injuries, but I believe Ms. Freeman and Ms. Moss are in good hands.
