Justice is coming and Justice will prevail.
Fuck Trump and Fuck the Trump voters.
Trump and his inner circle are a bunch of disgusting human beings. They have no honor, no honesty, no character, no dignity, they have nothing.

(22,205 posts)(repugs) were involved in this insurrection? The scope and depth of this attempt clearly shows that it was planned, and not just a few people who had too many beers and thus went running off the mouth, rioting, etc.
I do think it was smart to have mostly republican witnesses in front of the panel, along w/ the other witnesses and none of the usual idiots like Jordan, Banks, who's are loud-mouthed jerks, and who won't contribute a thing or be serious about the issue (a lot of the repugs are like this though, I hate to only name a couple when I could name dozens).
RICO is sounding so much better by the day.

(21,493 posts)I put my faith in Fani Willis in Georgia, she has at least started the process to go after Trump. The head of the snake needs to be cut off, that is called, accountability.

(22,205 posts)Added: A poster said instead to nail them on charges of conspiracy. Sounds more reasonable to me when I think about it.

6. Conspiracy. Much quicker.
Direct arrests. Get cracking.

(4,846 posts)You need to be on the "big lie" train to win the primary in GoP. They "weren't" just involved, they are "STILL" involved.

(22,205 posts)All I can say is 'Wow'! Every one of these people who participated even as a minor cog should lose their office (if elected) and never have the right to vote ever again, plus if their part in this whole mess was substantial, they should go to jail or serve some time somehow.

(22,205 posts)questioning of witnesses, presentation of evidence, no one yelling and screaming like Jim Jordan would have been doing. In short, a well-managed meeting.
I was very impressed.
Pelosi did her job good, by not letting Jordan or Banks in on the process, they would have tried their best to screw things up.

(86,935 posts)That would make it about a third of Congress, both houses, and about 2-3% of all agency personnel. And then there was the SES crowd who were the actuaries in dismantling the government. It's a large group.
In the Judicial branch, their numbers are again in decline, thanks to Biden's swift action in filling vacancies.
I hope that there is a sweep of all who hold office that were complicit in setting up and participating in J6 by voting against the certification and those who filed lawsuits or signed on to them. If that happens, Montana is in for a lot of special elections including;
1 Senate seat
2 House seats*
1 Governor**
1 AG
Not to mention a few legislators.
* We just gained a second House seat that we lost in 1990 but that second member has yet to be elected though the traitor party nominee is ryan zinke and he'll probably win it so he may end up included in the list of defendants in a RICO case for his stint as Sec. of Interior.
** Gianforte was our sole House Rep up until 2021 and was involved in helping the cult infect Montana with their viral scheme. Now he's governor and has been pushing the fascist agenda this whole time. I would love to see him get yanked from office and thrown in prison. He and the 1 Senator, Daines, were business partners for many years before either of them ever ran for office. They still are in business together under the radar.
So let 'er rip! I want to see heads roll, perp-walks and a shitload of special elections.

(5,586 posts)I listened to Preet Bhararas Cafe Podcast where he mentioned this.
Take Barrs testimony for instance. In his resignation letter, he encourages Trump needs to root out the fake and illegally cast votes. Hes also recently said that hed vote for Trump again if he was the nominee. Both of those facts present problems for prosecutors with regards to his viability as a witness. Many of the witnesses weve seen have similar complications.
I want to see Trump put in jail as much as anyone, but were seeing lawmakers, not prosecutors, presenting only the best possible facts. They also have the goal to expose the conspiracy, not convict people of crimes.

(10,297 posts)Once you look beyond all the self-serving "I revere the constitution" and "I took a solemn oath" crap, it's clear these Republican officials didn't participate in Trump's coup because they were afraid of being prosecuted for their crimes.
Fear of going to prison is a pretty strong deterrent. If Trump isn't prosecuted and the rule of law is ignored, the next group of officials won't be as circumspect.

(9,675 posts)What we are looking at is Phase II of the crime saga of the GOP.
Phase I was supposed to have been taken up by the Mueller investigation. When that was scuttled by political interference, we left the spider - Putin - alone and he continued to spin his web.
Now we're seeing the complexity of the web he wove and continues to weave. We can swipe at the web and bring it down, but the spider continues to lurk, and the danger isn't removed, only this group of treasonous conspirators.
There will be another web, and another, if we don't address the illness and not just the symptoms.
