Do you think there's any chance ...

... even the tiniest, slimmest, most remote chance imaginable, that there is a single Republican in DC tonight who isn't shitting himself over the announcement that the J-6 Committee is adding at least one more hearing to their schedule due to the additional evidence that has been flooding in?

Nah, I don't think so either.

They know it is an election year and their party is strongly favored in midterms, and any new evidence is still unlikely to overcome the economic headwinds. They'll do what they always do when confronted; say as little as possible and wait for it to blow over.

... by the J-6 hearings is going to "blow over" anytime soon - or anytime ever.

We're fifty years past Watergate, and people still talk about it. And when it comes to blatant corruption, Nixon is a rank amateur compared to Trump.

And take note that the political analysts who are pushing "the political party in power always loses in the midterms" are the same political analysts who keep telling us that we are living in unprecedented times.

In other words, there is no guarantee that what has happened in the past has any relevance to what is happening right now.

Now that this has been blown up I hope the committee will get lots more information from people even closer to the orange monster.

Waiting for them to name the senators and congressmen involved in this coup. Rs want power but self preservation may be the focus now.

Will that be the match that blows everything up?

If they can get just one false TIP followed up on as fact or truth that was a planted false tip.

That could kill the integrity of all the previous data.

We should know by now that this is a common MO for the RW. Prove one point wrong and then discount the 99% that is true.

But an exodus from the taint of a "conservative" moniker will come. Eventually it will be enough to persuade some Democrats that the traditionalist values among their constituents' can be spoken to without threatening their liberal base's level of support. There are many people who have been tentatively allied with the Republicans merely because they believed the propaganda spewed from the GOP machinery of industrialized politics. The Republicans will not be able to presume their availability, much less their loyalty, when the facts of Trump, et al become common knowledge to the "great uninformed".
It's an opportunity for progressivism that hasn't been seen since the 1960's. Progressives can make the facts of our horribly imbalanced wealth distribution stick, this time. Sluing off the mantles of elitism, "socialist", godless, ivy league, urbane, radical modernists imposed onto them by the GOP machine these last 6 decades, Democrats can even see possibly reclaiming seats in the Midwest and South given up as lost forever. Most important is the goal of a 2/3rds majority in the senate and house simultaneously. With that and just a little bit of cohesion Democrats can legislate a stable and just distribution of wealth creating a base of political power where liberal ideologies can fully form the fruits of prosperity from which the general electorate can more equitably share. When a people, no matter how disparate, share prosperity they are empowered to appreciate the social injustices, climatic, racial, economic and gender based, which their fellows suffer. Unlike the blaming and non-purpose hand wringing and resignation of the Republicans, an empowered people will demand their legislators eliminate these obvious injustices as a matter of course.

There are things on our list which we should be proud of and which need to be made real:
> Make all US territories into states
> Invigorate the national parks system to encompass and hold authority over vastly more acreage
> Achieve and maintain a 2/3s majority in congress
> Impeach supreme court judges who blatantly lied at their confirmation hearing
> Impose federal standards over all elections, local, state and federal
> Indict and bring to trial all public servants and employees, including those elected, who intentionally lie about anything ever
> Provide federal oversight at the USPS
> Empower the Social Security Administration to oversee all aspects of a national single payer healthcare system with broad powers of authority and jurisdiction
> Empower the GAO to have oversight, enforcement and administration of all federal expenditures
> Provide to the general public a periodic National Report on the Current Status of the 4th Estate Regarding Factual Information

Feeling a bit Tevye-esk this morning as "I rule the world".

... but wanted to play their cards close and judge the public reception before going there. Now that they've got the public hungry for more, they know there's an appetite. In addition, public perception is going in the direction they want: a majority of people want heads to roll.

The longer this is drawn out over the summer, the closer to the midterms it will be. Some of those motherfuckers will be voted out.

I do worry that if it's close to the election, the DOJ will not want to issue indictments for the corrupt congressassholes who should be indicted until after the election. My question: do you guys think that would be a good thing or a bad thing? I mean, if the public wants these assholes charged but the DOJ holds off until after the election, they'll vote them out, so it might be a good thing. If the DOJ does indict close to the midterms, people might vote for them to belligerently fuck the DOJ. It could go either way.
