Bill Clinton made a HUGE mistake when he met with AG Lynch at the airport. He's a lawyer and he should have known that he created an appearance of a conflict of interest. His wife was running for president and the DOJ was conducting an investigation into an issue related to Hillary. Bill should have just stayed on his plane.

Actually, I'm still surprised Ms. Lynch agreed to meet with him.

This stupid act by Bill caused all kinds of trouble for his wife. One example is that Ms. Lynch had to step back and had FBI Director Comey make that ill-fated announcement 11 days before the election. That single event could have changed the outcome of the 2016 election. Imagine where we'd be today had Hillary won that close race.

Regardless, your point is correct: that whole event was peanuts compared to the crimes Trump has committed.

He would have found a justification for holding that press conference in July, in some form or another, whether Ms. Lynch had stepped back or not. He certainly would have done something damaging to her.
