Supreme Court adds Friday as additional opinion day this week. (It previously announced Thursday as an opinion day.)
Which ever it is, the big bomb will drop on Friday at 4:55 pm EST

(14,349 posts)The gun case might come earlier but I doubt it will be this week. Next week will be the real shit show.

(7,654 posts)to have a decision day where the decisions literally drop end of the work day on a Friday. That seems a more likely spot for Dobbs then simply being the last one of the session.

(14,349 posts)The Court almost always waits until the very last day to hand out the biggest decisions of the year and Friday is definitely not the last day for decisions.
qazplm135
(7,654 posts)and they could have picked another day to hand them down.
At any rate, we don't know when any decision will be handed down, could be end of year, could be Friday, could be tomorrow.
My point is that there's no guarantee it will be the last decision handed down nor is it crazy to think end of the day on Friday is a possibility.

(21,634 posts)Has to come before the end of this term, otherwise they would have o dismiss it. Term technically ends in October though.

(21,634 posts)There are 13 opinions left, and they've been averaging 10 a week the past couple of weeks (5 this Tuesday). There will be onions Thursday and Friday this week, and probably on two days next week, so they will easily get there.

(54,005 posts)(emphasis on may) have to wait until as late as July 7th (a Thursday) or even July 8th (a Friday, obviously).
I will be shocked if we do not know by the end of the 8th.
Last year they stood until July. However, there are only 13 opinions left. Tuesday they released 5, and last Thursday 6. They are ahead of schedule now.

(8,650 posts)When they announce it, it will saturate the airwaves and people will be diverted from paying attention to the hearings.
We have another hearing tomorrow and then won't until after 4th of July.
This should give enough time for being able to give each event the focus it deserves . Obviously the roe vs wade repeal is earth shattering and has to be front and center to mobilize people for November.
It's equally important that the full scope of what Trump and his goons did to try to steal the election and overturn democracy be fully acknowledged.
So, announcing the abortion case Friday maybe the best outcome in terms of the timeline.

(6,115 posts)To steal attention from the hearing. They're pissed off that it leaked so they're going to try and steal attention from the hearing by issuing it tomorrow.
I hope to hell I'm wrong.

(24,939 posts)and get it over with. This waiting is interminable and, barring, some kind of surprise, we've been preparing for it for over a month now.

4 opinions were released today, dropping the total to 9 left. There are likely few opinion days remaining: tomorrow, and two or three next week.
