When you have the forged documents with peoples signatures on them, that is not a hard case to prove in a court of law.
When you have an evidence trail a blind man can follow, documents, e-mails, texts, phone call, showing people conspired in the fake electors scheme , that is not a hard case to prove.
When you have people appearing on TV admitting they were part of the fake electors scheme, that is not hard to prove.
A message must be sent, this type of arrogant, blatant, criminal behavior will not stand. You will pay a heavy price.
I don't know how many laws the fake electors broke. Garland will charge will charge them with whatever he can. I have no doubt.

(15,601 posts)Forged implies that the signature of John Smith was done by someone other than John Smith.
They committed fraud, and IMO should be known as Fraudulent Electors

All of that sounds better than "fake."

(9,670 posts)They knew what they were doing was illegal, but like the rest of them thought that it could all be explained away as waging war against the liberals.
This is what happens when you live in a bubble and call the real world "fake". Eventually it catches up to you.

I think this is one of the more important things to pursue in all of this.

(5,841 posts)There is no bottom to start with - this particular crime came directly from the top. I think that's why it is considered so prosecutable. There aren't any underlings to blame.

(21,323 posts)On CNN Thursday, during a discussion of the Department of Justice's new probes of GOP officials involved in the fake electors plot, anchor Chris Wallace demanded to know why it has taken so long for these investigations to move ahead.
DOJ knew a year and a half ago when the fake elector documents were sent to the National Archives. The National Archives had to issue a criminal referral to DOJ.
5 months ago the SOS of Michigan issued a criminal referral to DOJ requesting it investigate the fake electors. She then added, if DOJ does not investigate I will investigate the fake electors in Michigan.
If DOJ always gets its ducks in a row before it indicts anyone, why is it not proceeding with the Proud Boy criminal trial? Why has it asked for an extension?

(4,913 posts)Investigating, indicting, hundreds upon hundreds of people across the entire country. Going through mountains of evidence that requires a massive amount of time, people , resources. In reality, garland has not been moving too slowly.
Look at the committee, they have been working their asses off for at least a year and the evidence is still pouring in. So much so they are delaying their hearings. Are they moving too slowly? No.

(15,601 posts)The first hearing revealed that the committee had obtained testimony from a militia member who was also cooperating with DOJ.
DOJ was unaware of this fact. It created a dilemma that could have resulted in the dismissal of the seditious conspiracy charges against the PB/OKs the militia member was testifying against.
Instead, the DOJ asked for an extension while they obtained materials from the committee, which has finally agreed to provide the requested evidence.
The judge grudgingly agreed to the extension.
It was apparently a very close call.
But, you keep worrying about how slowly the DOJ is moving, as I know that is more important to you than the DOJ actually getting convictions.
