So, how many ways are we absolutely fucked right now?Last edited Thu Jun 23, 2022, 12:24 PM - Edit history (1)
We have the Supremes doing their best insane authoritarian dictator (with a weird religious twist) imitation.
We have a mentally ill orange tinted asshole with a cult of equally mentally ill sycophants We have a world that is out of control, climate-wise, yet we humans just continue to drive our big blue orb of a car off the cliff We have a country, Ukraine, being annihilated by an equally mentally ill authoritarian..... Lies are truth, truth is lies - and whatever half of the country wants, all they need to do is throw a tantrum and they get it What else? I am sure I am missing something. Just had to take a garden break, saw the SC decision....and....no words

1. It does make one want to dis-engage,
or at least live in a bubble of one's own design.
Better enjoy what you've got while you've got it. These may well be the good ol' days. Maybe I'll just go back to bed. |

7. There's a line from "The Office" that I think of often
“I wish there was a way to know you're in "the good old days", before you've actually left them.”
That’s how I feel with just about everything these days, from my life to my job to the state of this country. |

15. We lived in the golden era of the USA and we didn't even know it.
As we see it all fade away.

2. We're fucked to infinity, but we still fight.
I was thinking this morning while driving that the saying "Elections have consequences" cannot be overstated.

6. I know, right?
Today's ruling was essentially a "fuck you" to civilized society and gun control advocates. Now I'm really worried about the midterms and about 2024. Seems we're heading for fascist authoritarianism whether we want it or not.

9. Everytime I say it won't happen...
it happens.
No idea how to fix this except to encourage people to vote in their best interest. Have to try. We are being invaded by an internal enemy. |

10. The internal enemy is right wing propaganda.
It's the Sean Hannitys and Tucker Carlsons and Charlie Kirks and Ben Shapiros and Joe Rogans of the world, and so on. These are the people who are on AM / Fox News/ podcasts every single night basically telling people to vote against their best interests and that up is down, black is white, good is bad, bad is good, etc. These are the people who we must fight every day. They are turning our world upside down and turning half the population against the other half.

I wrack my brains all the time thinking "there must be a way to stop them! "

13. And any time you go to a party or gathering, you can almost instantly tell who watches Fox.
And it's almost like they're not worth talking to because you automatically know where they stand. Fox is doing irreparable harm to this country. And I am absolutely convinced they'll go nuclear and full Nazi in the 2024 election.
We're in for some really dark times ahead. ![]() |

![]() You're missing the GOTV part. https://www.democraticunderground.com/100216821536 So you aren't Superman and can't make the world spin backwards. If you want the intellectual answer, read The Psychology of Genocide by Steven K. Baum. (2008) He groups people into three categories: Perpetrators, Bystanders, and Rescuers. You must choose wisely. |
