So I can openly brandish a weapon in Times Square

but not outside on the street in front of Beer Kavanaugh's home?

Do I have that right?

And yes I have read several articles that say the ruling is not limited to concealed carrying but only "carrying a weapon."

Brandishing is not the same as carrying, but you already know that.

The apologia here for the armed idiot who clearly stated he wanted to kill a Supreme Court justice is frankly disgusting.

the ruling concerned concealed carry, not open carry. NY still has laws against open carry that were not part of this ruling.

Brandishing is illegal.

You do have the right to apply for a permit to carry a concealed firearm and that permit must be based on clear criteria.

Surely they should be filing amicus briefs opposing this king of freewheeling nonsense re guns.

The court didn’t rule that anyone can brandish a firearm in Times Square. The court ruled that states must change their regulations and requirements for would-be concealed carry license holders so that those requirements are objective (i.e. annual gun safety training classes, insurance, etc) instead of subjective requirements that they had before.

The ruling was stupid, but it says nothing about brandishing. Brandishing is displaying in hand and flourishing around, a weapon with the intent to threaten others.

Open carry is stupid. Concealed carry without proper vetting is also stupid, but neither are brandishing.

You would be arrested for brandishing a weapon, pretty much anywhere.
