There seems to be a fear that some of these GOP players have a pocket pardon to pull out once the

truth is revealed. I worry too, but I don’t think so. Remember TFG is only worried about himself. He wouldn’t care about others being prosecuted, he might think giving pardons would make himself look bad. I know he tossed out the idea of pardoning himself. Further, wouldn’t a pardon only apply to the laws broken up to that time? Continued law breaking, like perjury, wouldn’t be covered would it? Seems like the idea is treading on unproven ground.

would work. Even with our ridiculously right wing Supreme Court. We would truly be the laughing stock of the entire fucking world.

4. You'd be on solid ground, imo. In THIS context, pocket pardons would be nullified.

As I posted elsewhere...

It could happen. But. After all this work by Congress, FBI & DOJ, to let these pardons stand would be a failure of Rule of Law they just couldn't abide by. Too much loss, harm and damage has been done to the functioning of the federal and state governments, and too much proof has come to light to let any secret pardons go through after the worst and largest seditious conspiracy plot in U.S. history has been proven through years of investigation.

Would it be the SCOTUS that would decide? Well, if it got to them, and if they were to subordinate Rule of Law to pocket pardons and Rule of Men in this dark historical time, I see two things happening.

First, the decision would embolden all the trumpcult voters, militias and half-assed attorneys to trumpet that they were good the guys all along, go with this playbook over again, only with DeSantis, the smarter version of trump, and with corporate backers to establish minority corporate rule. SCOTUS would so weaken the judiciary that it would then become kangaroo corporate courts.

Second, much of the FBI, DOJ, many in Congress would leave; and many of the 81 million Democratic voters would be watching their backs, maybe looking to either hide or leave the country, given both the recent Miranda ruling by the SCOTUS, and the tendency of right winger LEO's to let mass murders happen.

Bottom line. It just won't happen. No one should see secret pardons saving the day for the bad guys.

You make a strong argument regarding pocket pardons ..we have NEVER been here b4..so no precedent....thus my fear..Glenn K.s Justice Matters regarding pocket pardons, for me, just provoked addl Questions...why would so many rep. Congressmen ask for a pardon?

I suppose I should just muse...answers, definitively, will come...tks again..

5. If trump decided on pocket pardons, I'd say he would have given few if any.

But Jared was in charge, I’d be shocked if less then 50 were given out.

2. The reason why I know he didn't issue secret pardons

is that they FAILED at the coup. He did not get something in return. He was not going to reward them for failure.

3. When you pardon someone you have to write down what it is for.

I pardon you for attempting a coup would not look good. When you accept a pardon you are admitting you did something wrong, illegal. You don't get a pardon for doing something good, legal.

After all, Congress didn't deliver for him, so why should he care about any of them?
