Democrats in Colorado are employing a novel strategy as they seek to oust controversial Republican Lauren Boebert from her deep-red congressional seat.
"Claudia Cunningham had never voted for a Republican in her life. She swore she couldnt or her father would roll over in his grave. But ahead of the Colorado primary on Tuesday, she did the once-unthinkable: registered as unaffiliated so that she could vote in the G.O.P. primary against her congresswoman, Lauren Boebert," The New York Times reported Wednesday. "So did Ward Hauenstein, the mayor pro tem of Aspen; Sara Sanderman, a teacher from Glenwood Springs; Christopher Arndt, a writer and financier in Telluride; Gayle Frazzetta, a primary care doctor in Montrose; and Karen Zink, a nurse practitioner south of Durango."
In North Carolina, there was a big push to get Democrats to temporarily re-register as "unaffiliated" to vote against Rep. Madison Cawthorn in his GOP primary. Cawthorn went on to be the youngest Republican to lose a primary.
"Driven by fears of extremism and worries about what they see as an authoritarianism embodied in Ms. Boebert, thousands of Democrats in the sprawling third congressional district of Colorado have rushed to shore up her Republican challenger, State Senator Don Coram. Their aim is not to do what best for Democrats but to do what they think is best for democracy," the newspaper explained.

I remember Limbaugh using his operation chaos against Obama and others. Defeating Boebert in the primary is the best way to get rid of her. This tacti worked on Madison Cawthorn

OP
I think Madison Cawthorn's loss has more to do with his orgy and drug slip up.

The republicans turned on him for slipping up the truth. It wasn't the democrats that got him out of office.

It will be interesting to see if this tactic works

Rep. Liz Cheney, the Wyoming Republican fighting for political survival after clashing with former president Donald Trump, has started sending Democrats instructions on how to switch parties and vote for her, underscoring an urgent effort to try to overcome serious vulnerabilities ahead of an August primary.
A spokesman for the Wyoming Democratic Party confirmed Thursday that members of the party are receiving the mailers, including the state partys chairman. How do I change my party affiliation to register as a Republican so I can vote for Liz? the mailer reads. Cheneys website has also been updated to include instructions for Democrats.
The congresswoman has held Wyomings at-large district for five years and is facing a handful of Republicans, including Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman, who used to support Cheney but has embraced the former presidents agenda. Trumps picks in other primaries this year have suffered some notable defeats, but Cheney must overcome particular ire from Trump and his base as one of his most strident GOP critics. And many local activists in the state have turned sharply against the congresswoman.
Under Wyoming law, voters can change their party affiliation no later than 14 days before the primary or do so either at their polling place on primary day, or when they request an absentee ballot. The law offers Cheney a chance to appeal to a broader universe of voters, including some who might be disinclined to see a Trump-backed candidate take over her seat in a state where Democrats stand little chance in the general election, due the Wyomings strong conservative tilt.

(113,052 posts)3. Boebert will be easier for Dem to win in general.
Cawthorn would have been easier for Dem to defeat in general because so many Republicans had turned against him. I mean truly hated him.
I think its a dumb move for Dems to help defeat the weaker general opponent.

MAGA lightning rod Lauren Boebert wins House primary in Colorado
