Dear Mr. Speaker:
Along with millions of Americans who heard your testimony before the January 6 Select Committee, I was deeply grateful for your willingness to come forward and speak the truth.
You spoke quite eloquently about honouring your oath
to uphold the Constitution, as well as your responsibility to adhere to the rule of law. And your reliance on your faith as a guiding principle in your life was expressed with what seemed to be heartfelt sincerity.
That being said, you might imagine my astonishment when I learned about your statement that you would vote for Donald Trump, should he seek re-election in future.
At that moment, the respect and admiration I'd felt for you just hours earlier disappeared, and I immediately questioned everything you had said in your testimony.
It made me question just how seriously you take your oath to uphold the Constitution, when you would willingly put the nation back into the hands of a man who attempted to overthrow our democracy.
It made me question just how sincere your statements about adhering to the rule of law are, when you continue to support a man who repeatedly broke the law in order to hold on to a presidency he clearly lost.
It made me wonder what tenets of your faith could possibly guide you to support a man who lied, cheated, and bullied representatives such as yourself into participating in a scheme to ignore the will of the American people, and defy the principles our nation was founded upon.
Of course, you are not alone, sir. There are many Republicans who have expressed their desire to see a now-proven, totally corrupt criminal back in the Oval Office - while fully acknowledging that he actually is a totally corrupt criminal.
If you, sir, have ever wondered why intelligent, patriotic citizens now view your party as a mindless "cult", look to your own statements and actions - because you are a classic example thereof. How else would you characterize members of a party willing to testify to Trump's criminal behaviour, while expressing their support of putting him back in office?
It is simply a matter of common sense for We The People to assume that despite the protestations of you and your party members, you are indeed Trump cultists who will follow your Dear Leader no matter where he leads.
You are a disgrace, Mr. Speaker. You are a shining example of everything that is wrong with the Republican party, from your obvious hypocrisy to your cultish adoration of a man who has no morals, no ethics, and no reverence for the oath he swore to protect and defend the Constitution.
I hope you enjoyed your "fifteen minutes of fame", Mr. Speaker - because they have now been obliterated by your own hypocrisy.
Let the record reflect that the Speaker of the Arizona House of Representatives is a spineless Trump-humper who believes that attempting to overthrow democracy should not be an impediment to being re-elected as POTUS.
Yes, let the record reflect exactly that, Mr. Bowers - and it already does.

as straight as an arrow, and that his statement was going to be replayed multiple times, so there was no need for me to rewind so I could share it. I really admired him.
Then the next day I found out he was still glued to Trump, because of all the great things Trump had done for the country. I was just gobsmacked.

(4,062 posts)Just this morning I saw a political sign with his name on it,,,, apparently he is now running for the Arizona State Senate. I wonder if that comes into play with his 'logic' on testifying against then saying he'd vote for TFG.

(15,533 posts)Of course it does. He's playing both sides of the fence since he still wants the cultists' votes along with the sane (if there are any) GOPers of AZ.

Of course, DU'ers are going to agree with you, but you're just preaching to the choir here.
